Vibes and Prayers Please!!
Hey ladies! I know I haven't been around lately, but I am really hoping I can get some nestie vibes please since I know how well they work!
I have been having horrible stomach pains since this past weekend, and finally got into the Dr. today. I have a history of ovarian cysts (one rupture that sent me to the ER, and a softball size cyst that had to be removed). Anyway, I have to have a CT scan done in the morning to see if I have another cyst or if something else is going on.
Now the Dr. just called me to tell me my labs came back showing that I have blood in my urine. She said they will send it in for a culture, and after I have my CT scan tomorrow hopefully we will know more.
Now I am really freaking out because I don't know what this blood in the urine means. From everything I can find, it does not sound like an ovarian cyst can cause that. As much as I don't want another ovarian cyst, at least with that I know what I am dealing with. The idea that something else could me going on is really freaking me out. On top of that I have anxiety disorder, so all of this is sending me into a major panic attack. I just want to feel better, and have nothing seriously wrong!

My H had really bad severe stomach pains with blood in urine and it turned out to be a kidney stone. (He saw the Walgreens Clinic and an actual Dr at Prompt Care and they couldn't figure out what was wrong- so we landed up in the ER that night.) If that's what it is, it's painful on and off while it passes through your body. His was in his body from I believe Sept or October until mid-November. He's good to go now for about 5-7 more years because unfortunately they usually come back after a period of time.

I also suffer from Ovarian Cysts. When I was 15 I was hospitalized for what they thought was appendicitis. When they went in to remove my appendix they found a huge cyst encapsulating my entire right ovary, and it was leaking. From there I was hospitalized a few months later with the same pain (lower abdominal). They were doing blood work and testing my urine and each time the urine came back w/ blood and the cultures were contaminated. They couldn't figure out why. After I was released from another 1 week stay, I went and saw a urologist. He noticed I had kidney stones. He said that was probably what was causing the blood in the urine. He said they would probably pass on it's own. A few days later I was having the same pains but it was extending into my lower back (still all on the right side). I was hospitalized once again and they did an IVP test. The test showed that my kidney was 1/4 larger than what it should have been and they thought it was because of the kidney stones, so they were going to admit me and do surgery the next morning to remove the stones. When they were going in the next day they couldn't reach my kidney becuase my uteter had ecluded and nothing was passing through. They put a stent in and the stones were able to pass and I started feeling better.
After many many many CT's, sonograms, IVP's and just about any other nuclear test they have were run on me, they eventually diagnosed me with PCOS along with 3 other auto-immune disorders.
Now that I've gotten carried away, I'm not saying any of this to scare you, but to let you know that I can relate. You should relax and take this one test and doctors appointment at a time. Get the results of the CT scan and ask your doctors about kidney stones and PCOS. Best of luck with the scan tomorrow, and I'll be thinking about you! It's the not knowing that is killing me. It's no good for my anxiety!!! If it's another cyst, then at least I know what I am dealing with. It's the blood in my urine thing that is really throwing me. I guess it could be kidney stones, but it seems like my whole digestive system is messed up. Guess I will just have to wait and see. I can't imagine having to go all weekend waiting for my results. It's not going to be fun : (
Just finished my first chalky contrast drink for the test tomorrow. It was HORRIBLE!!! Now I feel like crap, and just really out of sorts. Have to drink another one in the morning. YUCK!!!
Amy - Thanks for sharing your experience with me. I'm sorry you had to go through all that!!! It is comforting though to know that you can relate to what it's like dealing with cysts, and if it's kidney stones, I will definitely have more questions for you!
