Ideas for keeping my kids engaged on the go

Hi, I'm a stay at home mom with 2 young kids. I'm always out and about and my kids will necessarily need to come with me.
I am an iPhone user so naturally I load it up with a lot of apps that are educational as well as fun for them to use while we're waiting in line or in transit.
Does anybody out there do the same thing? I'm always on the outlook for cool new apps, if you guys have any to share that would be awesome.
I've got one here that I thought is great, it's a well-known e-picture-book that you can record your own narration (in my case, my 6 year old like to record his own). In my opinion the $1.99 commitment is much easier to swallow than the hallmark recordables, and my kids love it:

  • hmmm...  I am wondering if you are trying to sell that app.

In any case,  I think that it is good for your kids to be bored sometimes.  Kids develop their creativity out of boredom.  They do not need to be actively engaged at all times.  Let them stare out the window.

I agree.  Staring out at the clouds is good for their imagintions,  If it's a very long trip, I would pack some books.  They hav to learn quiet time eventually

  • You need a new ad agency.

This board has been set aside for new brides to blame their new husbands' douchebaggery on their mothers-in-law. Parenting? Not so much.

But I do agree with the previous poster, kids do need to learn that valuable skill of being OK when not being entertained. Plus your six should be in school, run your errands then.

  • Put them to work writing spam.
  • Our kids don't really have issues like that an are able to engage in activiities or conversations on their own.
