did anyone save the top tier of there cake ????if yes how did you package it & do you think it will taste good ??
we get a new fresh one on are anniversary, it was included in the price of are cake. just ordered it today
Re: wedding cake
Our caterer saved it for us but since we got married OOT and went right on our HM there was no way we could. My friend and I almost started a food fight with Greg with it but instead we just licked the frosting off.
The restaurant we are going to for our anniversary has a FABULOUS dessert room so I'm sure we will just do that for our cake.
The only person I know IRL who ate their cake a year later said it tasted good. We didn't get to freeze ours right away, but we are allowed to order a replacement for free anyway. Thanks for reminding me!!

Mine got dropped - so it's smushed. Since the icing isn't intact, I'm not sure how it's going to hold up. I wrapped it in about 3 layers of plastic wrap - directly touching the cake. Followed by a couple layers of foil. It's sitting in the back of our freezer and I was just telling DH I can't wait til it's out and I have more room. (It doesn't really take up THAT much space - enough to be annoying.)
We're leaving on vacation the day after our anni, so I told DH we'll be eating cake ALL day since it probably won't last til we get back. Assuming it tastes good in the first place.
Honestly though, I had the entire bottom tier of my cake left over. I split it up into tupperware and put it straight into the freezer. I brought pieces into work after the honeymoon, and we had the last piece 6 months after the wedding - it was still pretty good. Then again, I had several crew members of 4 Weddings say it was the best wedding cake they've had - and they've had a lot of awful WC.
we ate our top tier 1 month after the wedding. a) i didnt want to wait to eat it since the only cake i ate at the wedding was the 2 bites don fed me. b) i didnt want to taste 1yr old cake, haha.
i thought about ordering a duplicate of our top tier for our 1yr anniversary but that hasn't happened yet so we'll see what happens w/ that. either way we'll be back down at the beach where we got married for our anniversary so that's good enough i my book!
We didn't keep ours. K wouldn't give up valuable deer space in the freezer for a cake. :-(
Totally random, but when we started cleaning out FIL's house, I opened the freezer and the only thing in there was this random block of something in a ziploc bag. Turns out it was a piece of he and MIL's wedding cake - 40+ years later!
