we survived, ladies! not sure how...
went on a shatty run last night. wanted to not run at all, knew i needed to, did a short 3 mile loop and was miserable. taking tonight off though to go to the county fair and i cannot wait! fair food (fries, caramel apples, yum!) and old timer's from town alway get my heart racing. i love seeing the old farmers from my hometown who help make the town what it is. seriously, i love the cornish fair ![]()
wedding this weekend which we are also pumped about. ten mile run which i am slightly not as pumped about due to the blisters i have been getting...buying new fancy run socks and body glide tonight in hopes to prevent them tomorrow.
hope you all have a happy friday!
Re: TGIF!
Morning all. I was having issues getting on in the morning b/c of the site and when I could it was sorta late yesterday so I didn't join in on the daily thread. No biggie.
Spent most of the day running errands and such. Took care of the recycling (plastic/thin cardboard) that was full to overflowing. Always amazed at exactly how fast we fill that up when it was just "garbage" before we started recycling. Went grocery shopping with money I didn't have and came home to fill out an online app for Applebee's. Whoo. Don't want to waitress again, but can't ignore that fact that moola is gone.
Also added a set of "card suit" etched pint/pub glasses to my etsy. If you are FB friends with me you might've seen the pic. They turned out well. Hoping to get drop off/get paid for a pair of wedding glasses that I made for a gift today too. Looking forward to the Nascar race this weekend. Hubs and I are going with a friend from high school and her BF. First time they've been. Should be fun.
Last night we made steak and cheese sandwiches for dinner. We had a busy house last night a couple friends stopped by. We are now dog sitting our friends dog for a week and half while they are in Portugal. The wife is a week ahead of me on pregnancy, I don't think I would want to make that trip but his family goes there every year. His parents are from there.
This weekend we are not doing much of anything because we spend to much money last weekend. In less I make so much money tomorrow waitressing, which I doubt. I can't wait till football season to start making good money again. I plan on working maybe a month and a half of it to save up some money and then finally I will leave! I'm sure I will get sucked into filing in every once in a while. I don't think I will ever really leave since Greg also works there.
hey all!
Last night I was a pile of crap. Made some dinner, and then just lounged and watched tv.
Tonight we're going to J's cousin house. J is helping cousin move a washer to a rental property he owns. I'll hang out with cousin's wife and son while they do that and then we'll have dinner. I feel like cousin's wife, is more like a "SIL" than my actual SIL. She's even offered to throw a family baby shower and is SUPER excited (maybe even more than me....) about it.
Tomorrow FIL is coming down and him and J are going to go marching through marsh/woods scoping out hunting places. I'm hoping to finish a quilt that I've been working on for a looooooooooong time.
That's about it! Can't wait for this day to be OVER!!!
I think it must be fair season. Everybody's going to fairs. Enjoy, Shauni! I love fair food so much. It's a good thing it's way too much of a hassle to get in and out of the fair around here, or I would have gained 30 lbs just this week eating fried dough and butter-soaked corn on the cob. :-)
They have fried oreos at our fair. I love funnel cake and I love oreos, but who in the eff wants to eat oreos covered in fried dough? Just not appealing to me.
Can you eat a LOT of fair food for me?? I want a full report on Monday! :-) I don't even like funnel cakes but saw a picture of one the other day and I really want one now. I would also like a corn dog.
In fact I think you need to take pictures and blog about the fair adventure you and G have tonight.
thank you baby jesus it's friday!
today is shaping up to be a good one...today was payday for me, but my boss forgot to add in my 2 hrs of sick time i used last week which was a bummer but it's fixed and i'll get that paid back on my next paycheck. don got a raise today AND a hefty bonus (much more than we were anticipating). i'm having lunch today w/ my mom. hopefully today will continue to be a good one to welcome in the weekend with!
we're going back down to where we used to live, again. don's got another tattoo appointment and he's gotta install a few more things around SIL's house. at least i'll get to hang out w/ my niece for the better part of tomorrow. as of right now we dont have squat going on for sunday, which is a welcomed thought. too bad it'll be spent doing laundry and cleaning
It must be fair time everywhere but Florida! I love love love love fairs. I wish I didn;t have to wait till February, well this year I do because I wouldn't be able to go on any rides. I actually told Greg this weekend after the awful tragedy that happened at the Sugarland concert that if I ever died at a fair know at least i died happy.
Dough Boys (funnel cakes) are my favorite! We actually had deep fried oreo this weekend they had them in the Keys because it was lobsterfest. Also deep fried peanut cups are heavenly!!! So yes Shauni eat some yummy fair food for me too.
Yay for fair time! This weekend is the carnival at the local hospital so we'll be hitting that up either tonight or tomorrow, hopefully sans ILs who I've now seen for 4 weeks straight
. And next month is my hometown fair which I always love going back to despite how white-trash-boondocky it is.
Finally started loading up my $13 bookshelves after a $400 trip to the vet. Damn cat is lucky I love him. Oh, and there's nothing wrong with him. I was torqued. And we'll be changing to a new vet. The one we currently go to has had multiple vets (other than the one who owns the practice) in and out since we've started and I've almost always liked the non-owners better so we're going to search out the latest one to leave.
I want a funnel cake in the worst way...
Mmmm fair foood...
Today is FRIDAY. Yay! I don't have a ton to do today at work, which is awesome, and tonight Jeff and I are going for yummy pizza by his work. This is a total aside but: this morning on the subway I was sitting behind a woman in a gorgeous sleeveless blouse (I think it was from the Limited, I wanted to buy it), the kind where the shoulders are completely bare and there's just the collar basically (I will try to find a picture to better explain, I'm describing it awfully). And she had on a regular bra.
This is one of my biggest pet peeves - when people wear the completely wrong bra for a top, especially if they're trying to actually look nice. Seriously, if you aren't willing to wear a special bra with an unusual silhouette, don't buy the shirt. I get that it's hard to find a strapless bra that fits well (ok, sorry, no, it's not THAT hard, and it's worth it), and it seems silly to buy a racerback or convertible bra if you won't wear it that often, but for Pete's sake, just don't freaking buy the shirt then! She was clearly dressed nicely for work in expensive clothes, and the look was RUINED by her bra straps. I don't care if your bra is peeking out a little bit, or even if you're just wearing a tank top and the straps aren't covered, but if you are dressed up, put in some effort. Jeez. Sorry, rant over.
Edit: this isn't the exact shirt, but it's the same style:
Glad this week is finally over! I slept like crap last night. Didn't fall asleep til after 3, didn't hear my alarm go off. Woke up feeling like crap. I'm still at the house and just don't care. I think all this working is really getting to me but I've got to figure out something so I can sleep better. Any ideas??
Jealous of all the fairs! Our state fair isn't til October and I really hope I can go this year but not sure if that'll happen bc of my mom's big 50 bday bash and then a friend's wedding. Last year, I tried the frozen cheesecake. So good but it was too big for one person. Jeremy tried the fried snickers bar I think and we both liked the cheesecake better.
Nephew's first birthday party tomorrow then driving 2 hours to a friend's surprise bday party tomorrow night then the 4 hour trek back home at some point Sunday.
Yes Friday! I had a short work week but am still glad the weekend is here, ha-ha! Yesterday had a chiro appointment and then a long assss ride home, stupid train was delayed and then of course there were more cars on the road going home and had to stop off at Trader Joe's to get a few things. Got home and DH was in the process of putting my new desk together while I cooked dinner. God bless him as he finished and then I stayed up a little longer than I wanted so we could at least veg on the couch together watching the news before I went to bed.
This morning, woke up early took Allie on a walk (we walked around 3 miles) and am working from home. Acupuncture appointment at 3pm today, which means I also get a 20-30 minute nap with that, whoot!
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
I am so glad it is Friday. Yesterday was my aunt's B-day. We were supposed to go over to her house for dinner & cake. Her boyfriend called me at 3:00 pm yesterday inviting us over. Short notice? Anyhow I went to the gym, came home, and showered. I then got a call from her that the party was cancelled because they got into an argument. Luckily Richard was at the Wally World so I told him to get stuff for spaghetti and we had dinner for her at our place.
Can you believe I haven't had a drink all week? Well, I sure am making up for it tomorrow. We have another b-day party to go and it should be fun. I am also excited about the battle of the bay Raiders v. 49ers. I know it's just pre-season but I love me some football.
Yay for Friday! I woke up with a nasty headache and of course have tons to get done before work today.
Yesterday I managed to rearrange half of my kitchen and find homes for my new purchases. It looks fantastic right now, but I have a ton of cooking and baking projects ahead of me this next week so hoping it stays that way. I also hope to organize the living room this weekend and finally get some home decorating accomplished.
Today I am baking zucchini bread and Nisu (Finnish sweet bread), meeting with a couple who wants to have their wedding reception at the restaurant I work at, and of course I have to work today too. Also can't forget cleaning....windows and floors are on my to do list today.
Laura, thank you for the reminder, I need a new strapless bra.
I am psyched. I changed my weigh in day for my 5 lbs down goal from Monday to Friday so I have time to work off the weekend. I've lost 6 pounds since August 1, so I made my goal and still have a week and a half left. I'm pumped. And I feel great. Except for not being able to move from yesterday's class.
After the gym, I went to DiBruno and got biscotti for MFD and dinner for me (pasta caprese) and a diet iced tea. Then on to Sephora for Clinique All About Eyes and a sephora long-wearing lipstick. They're not too dry and last reasonably long.
I'm hoping to not do *** for the rest of the day but my boss wants me to work. Motherf&&ker.
The rosemary potatoes I made last night are abfab and since it's just potatoes, olive oil, fresh rosemary, salt and pepper with some truffle oil and ICBINB sprays (both no cal), they're not bad for you.Yummmmmm rosemary potatoes!!
My current fave strapless bra is actually from Victoria's Secret - it was kinda pricey but I have seriously worn it over a hundred times. I am much more likely to wear a strapless bra now, because I have one that I'm not constantly tugging at and doesn't give me weird shelf boobs or anything! It's opened up my summer work wardrobe considerably.
