Just an idea about your two kitties - does your girl kitty have a place she can go to hide that's up? Like a cat tree, or any ledges way up high? I watched the My Cat From Hell show on AP, and the guy was trying to harmonize a two-kitty home that sounded a lot like your situation. He said that because there was no place for "escape" (meaning up high places like kitties like), that that was one of the main reasons they acted out on each other. I think maybe if your girl kitty had a place to go that was "hers" or a way to escape from the boy kitty, things might get a bit better for you - and that way you won't have to lock anyone up.
HTH!
Re: *amandasw* Re: Kitties
thanks! yeah, it's actually kind of funny... because she's so much smaller and he's a big cat, she will go under things (bed, couch etc) and he's too fat to fit, lol. Because of this we don't always keep them separated because we know she can get away if she wants, but we make sure she has 'alone' time to eat etc. She used to be a very independent cat and would stand up for herself, so it's frustrating that she won't do it now. And also, the peeing for both of them is very infrequent (I might have made it sound like it was all the time), it's just that it never happened and now will occasionally. All in all, I think we're going to try to make them spend more time together, especially after we get the pheromone stuff and hope that helps.
