Re: Good dslr deal?
I think it is if you don't mind learning with the kit lens. Those are the two lenses that I have right now and for me just learning and starting out they suit my needs well. I do have my eye on a new lens (maybe for Christmas?), but I've gotten some good photos with my kit.
I love Abes of Maine. Alexi buys most of his techy stuff from there now. We also got our flat panel for our Family Room from them and it was free shipping!
I figured it'd be 2 basic lenses but wasn't sure about the 2nd one since I usually see them come with just one lens
Blog
I don't know Canon all that well so I looked it up on a site that I frequently use for my equipment and the pricing is listed as the same. So I would say go for it.
The other site has a few other deals with a few other lens options: check out Adorama and B&H Photo to compare their packages and go with what you are comfortable with.
The lenses in the package you posted are okay. The kit lens is a nice lens to start out on to learn what focal lengths that you like, but you will find its limitations. It will have you wanting a speedlite and or a prime soon enough
The zoom isn't bad, especially with the IS feature. It's a slower lens but you are more than likely going to have that on outdoors, so you may not feel the limitations as much as the kit.
Happy shopping!
