Our contract is almost up, and we are thinking of switching our cell phones from AT&T. We had initially wanted to go with Verizon. However, I would kind of like to get a smart phone, and their minimum data plan is just too high to have to pay for two.
I would appreciate any input, especially about signal quality through T-Mobile. Part of the reason we are really considering a switch is because the signal quality in our new house through AT&T is horrible - we almost can't even use our phones there at all.
Re: Any T-Mobile users?
Ugh... we have AT&T and it's terrible in our house, too. I bet I get dropped calls 40% of the time. So ridiculous.
Anyway, I was responding to say that I heard on NPR yesterday that AT&T is trying to buy out T Mobile right now. I think the government is evaluating right now whether to okay the deal. Might want to take that into consideration.
Yeah, we are taking this into consideration. We figure by the time the deal is approved and actually goes through (if it really happens), we'll be pretty close to being able to afford to cancel our contract if we don't like how it turns out. We're hoping, though, that if they do merge, it will mean way better signal strength with AT&T if we end up back there since they shouldl have an increased number of towers.
That is good to know! We were wanting to try out other providers in the house before we decided, but we don't know anybody with a T-Mobile phone. Thanks for the info!
my bookshelf!
Bloggy
To be clear, that trial period is with ANY provider. It has something to do with FCC regulations.
I had T-Mobile and H had AT&T. We both had smartphones and were paying around $210 a month which is way too much.
We both switched to Verizon...he has a Droid 2 and I have an iphone 4 and our bill will be around $160
We thought about Sprint, too, but since they don't use SIM cards, I worry about having to buy a brand new phone if anything happened to one of ours.
I'd really rather switch to Verizon, but I don't really want to pay $30 a month more than we are paying right now. We are going to be saving some money on our car insurance, though, so we may just suck it up and pay the extra money for a second data plan.
Thanks for the input, everyone!
