I love disposables, first of all. And this may make me an irresponsible earthling, but I really have no problem with the idea of all of Nate's thousands of used diapers sitting in a landfill. But. Kenya doesn't have the kind of waste management system we do here. I've already decided that we will have a compost pile, and we will burn what trash we can (they don't have city ordinances against this), in order to limit what we have to have taken to the dump. From what I've seen most of what should go to the dump ends up in the streets - literally. And I'm not okay with filling city streets with diapers. So I'm giving it some serious thought...
Re: I may convert to CDing
Let us know if you have any questions! Will you have a washing machine at the house in Kenya?
Are you going to buy some before you move? Like Heather said, let us know if you have any questions. Between all of us, I am sure we've tried a little of everything.
Ooh, crazy thought, but maybe we could each donate to you a diaper or two that we've tried and love? I know some people don't like the idea of using a "used" diaper, but I personally never was bothered by it. I've certainly won enough, I would be happy to donate to your cause
This is a great idea if you are interested.
CDing is something completely uncommon in my area so I'm definitely one of the few to do it. I can hands down say I absolutely love it!
If you are definitely interested-I can send you something too:)
Aw, you girls are so sweet! I would love some "samples."
I'm planning to stock up here once we figure out what kind(s) we like. I think we'll get though the newborn phase in disposables, and we'll keep Nate in disposables until he's ready for training pants. He's still young for that, but he is acting more and more "ready."
