Re: Help Help Help!!!

  • Might be time for a new (non-hotmail) email address if you can't get the password thing under control. Not sure what else to tell you except keep trying to contact hotmail :-(
  • I can't find a hotmail contact number. The hacker change the email adress to recover the password. This is a fvcking nightmare. I don't need that sh!t.

  • Ok I managed to remove the hacker's email. The hacker had entered their own email address letting them change my password info and if I wanted to delete it guess what? It would send and email to the hacker asking them to confirm. RIDICULOUS.

  • Hmm...email hacking is usually automated. Do you think there is an actual person who wants control of your account for some reason?
  • Well it all started on Facebook. I use my Hotmail email  to log in on Facebook. I thought I was chatting with my 12 year old cousin. She wanted me to see a video. I clicked the link and of course it didn't work. It sent me back to my facebook. My sister was on FB too so I asked her if our cousin sent her the same message and my sister told me it was a hacker. I tried to access my emails and it said I had the wrong password. I managed to reset it with the security question. It worked. Then 5 min later, the password is changed again and the security question doesn't work. I managed to log in again (forgot how) and realized the hacker had changed my private info and changed the other email address that Hotmail can use to send you new password info. Of course, when I tried to delete the hacker email address, it sent an email to the hacker asking them to confirm which is so stupid.

Finally I found this on Microsoft's website:

If you are having difficulty changing or removing an existing password reset configuration, you have two options:

Try adding new password reset information to any of the reset options. If the new configuration is automatically confirmed, you can use the new setting to remove unwanted settings, such as old or incorrect Email addresses or SMS Numbers. If new password reset information settings show "confirm", indicating they are not yet "confirmed", you can Remove all your password reset information to purge all configurations. After a waiting period, all existing options will be removed and you can then add new password reset options.I did this and it removed for good the hacker's email. So now they can't reset my password anymore. So far so good. I still have access to my hotmail account. My FB is locked for 24 hours.

  • Ah...yeah, gotta be really careful of those FB links, there are a ton of those out there lately.
  • You have to be careful of links sent through the facebook chat. My rule is to always talk to the person first before clicking on any links to make sure it was actually sent by that person.

I'm glad you were able to fix this. I would still try to contact hotmail to let them know about the hack and see if there is anything else you need to do.

If the hacker had sent the link right away, I would have never opened it. But I did have a conversation with my fake cousin before. But her answers were pretty simple like "I am doing good, yes things are good bla bla bla".

  • I had this happen to me last year with my Gmail and yahoo accounts.  It took me about 8 hours to straighten out.
