Thunderstorms

Love 'em or hate 'em? I hate 'em and they scare me. :(

Re: Thunderstorms

  • It depends on where I am, and where the storm is.  If I'm home safe and sound, they usually don't bother me, but if I'm out in them, they scare the crap out of me.
  • Love 'em, especially with crazy lightning, and we've been having some serious ones tonight.

The best, though, was many years ago when I was in Virginia Beach with my family.  We rented a condo for the week, and it was next to a lake.  One night there was a severe thunder & lightning storm, and lightning kept hitting the lake, lighting up the sky like daylight.  It was amazing.

I like strong winds too.  When it was raining and crazy windy back when I was in college in MA, that's when I'd love to take a walk across campus at night, with the trees whipping all around.

  • I hate them - They scare me too! I have this fear of lightning hitting our house and starting a fire and/or a tornado coming. It doesn't help that Orlando is like the lightning Capitol of the country. We see houses burn down from lightning all the time around here. Scary!!! We had a pretty bad storm here tonight :(

  • I hate them, but only because my dog completely freaks out.  As soon as we hear the start, we have to run and find her to put her in her cage or she pees everywhere.  This is the only time she does this.

  • I adore them. One July 4 years ago, most of this region was under burn bans, no fireworks. We went camping in New Mexico, up on a mesa. There was a tremendous storm the night of the 4th. We rigged up a tarp and sat outside watching the lightning miles away. Natural fireworks.

I'm not a fan of wind, though.

ETA: that's not 4 years ago, that's July 4th, years ago...

This is me! Also I like to be home to comfort Jade. She is a big baby when it comes to thunder, gun fire, fireworks, etc. She literally climbed up onto my lap last night while I was chilling on the couch. Which is hard since my lap keeps disappearing! LOL.

  • Last night was insane, I never wake up during storms, but last night I did.

They don't bother me, I'm pretty indifferent.

  • When I am home, I love listening to the rain. When I am out and about, I don't really care for storms.

  • They scare me.  I always like to be home safe and sound.  If I'm home, I'll unplug the computer and not talk on the phone.

I am careful of that. Now, anyway, since I learned the hard way. A couple years ago I had my laptop plugged in during a storm and lightning must've struck nearby because I got a surge that fried the power cord. It did its job, though, the computer was protected. $62 to replace the freakin' cord, though.
  • normally they don't bug me, but we had one last night that came on all of a sudden. The wind and thunder scared the crap out of me.
