Re: 3 year olds taking stripper pole class?
That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! This is like a million times worse that Toddlers and Tiaras!
I wouldn't even want my teenage daughter taking a pole dancing class as a form of exercise!
I agree. I am VERY lenient with most things like this, but Hell to the NO!
Well, it depends... if I had a kid and named her Kan Dee Cayne, maybe.
But assuming I continue to roll in my judgy (and judged) middle-class mores, I'm thinking it's a big fat NO!
I'm ok w/ dance and/or tumble, but an actual pole? That just creeps me out. I understand it's just an object and so it (the pole) is what you make of it, etc. That's an approach and that's fine. However, if I had a kid, it's sure as heck wouldn't be my approach. Much like racy bathing suits and make-up--- not ok for toddlers, IMO.
Weird. But this reminds me of my trian ride 2 or 3 days ago.
A young mother was sitting on the train, which was fairly empty. Her 2.5/3 year old son was playing around a pole that's located in the middle of the aisle for people to hold when it's packed and they're standing. He's holding on to it with one hand, and quickly "strutting" around it clockwise, then switches hands and does it counter-clockwise, and finally gripping it with both hands and sliding down it while shouting "Like it's hot!" The mother was just annoyed, and tried a few times to get the boy to sit down. After she finally grabs him and holds him in her lap, he turned around and said, as cute as anything, "I just want to dance like you mommy!" At that moment she turned bright red, and I realized his last little move was the ole "drop it like it's hot" routine. It made my entire day.
And on that note.. I don't agree with the whole pole dancing thing for kids. I feel like if it was gymnastics involving a pole, horse, or other such things, it wouldn't be advertised as pole dancing for todlers.
