My old boss gave my resume to a friend in the business that is starting their own company. I received a email from the company telling me about a open position. They mentioned that I was overqualified but was wondering if I was interested anyway. I would love to work for this company but there's no way I would take the salary and I wouldn't be happy with the position. How should I word my reply, I want them to keep me in mind of something else opens up in my area.
Re: What should I respond
I wouldn't focus so much on the salary but on the type of responsibilities/position you're really looking for.
"Thank you so much for contacting me. While I would love the opportunity to work for your company, I am looking for my next position to be a step up in responsibilities and include working on _______ and _______. Should another position that fits this description open up, please do let me know, as I'd love to apply."
...or something.
