Anyone paint with no-voc, low-voc paints?
Anyone know the best primer on the market? I want to prime whatever house we get with no-voc to seal any lead paint issues in the older homes. And eventually once i figure our a paint scheme paint with it.
Re: Anyone paint with no-voc, low-voc paints?
According to this article on Mother Nature Network, California Paints Elements have a good primer: http://www.mnn.com/your-home/remodeling-design/stories/no-voc-paint-prevents-mold-and-bacteria
Here is a full list of CPE paints and primers: http://www.californiapaints.com/GreenPage/GreenProducts.pdf
CR rated Olympic Premium Satin (Lowe's) high - No VOCs. Also Benjamin Moore Natura Eggshell and BM Natura Flat (no VOCs) but that's almost twice the price of the Olympic.
If you want, I can email you the entire report.

Ld from what i am reading olympic is the crap of the crap.
apparently KILZ makes a no voc primer, we have used kilz before so thats a good sign.
I used Sherwin Williams' Harmony line when I painted my guest bedroom a few weeks ago. It covered really well, but it's expensive. I mainly chose it because my dad swears by SW paint and they were having a 40% sale. It did have a little odor, but nothing that an open window and a fan couldn't tackle. The smell was gone within a few days of airing it out.
ETA: It's a no-VOC paint.
i've never painted in gloves? is that a thing.
i like mythic paint for paint paint it's pricey but it is also non-toxic (no other brand seems to be) and made in america
mr. eagles loves the Kilz. I have run out to the HD many times to pick up more for him

Do you want me to ask him what he recommends? I know he has researched this stuff - he is so into the home improvement stuff, plus MIL's H is a pro painter
