Ok so we've found a new place for our pup to go to during our vacation so we've decided that we can take a short flight as we are only going for a week. These are the places that we're thinking about, what do you guys think? Where would you go and why?
Ireland - don't know where
Canary Islands
Majorca - north part of the island
Corsica
Re: October vacation
DH and I went to Mallorca last year in early November and couldn't have asked for a better time. We stayed at Nixe Palace Hotel and it was fantastic.
I'd save Ireland for a time when you can go when the weather is more likely to be nice.
ETA: Mallorca was a good combo vacation for us, because we got beach time and time to explore. There's cool art stuff, an awesome early 20th century train, hiking, ocean stuff, etc. Loved it.
It also depends what you're looking for. If you want really beachy, I would probably go to the Canary Islands. I agree with pp that Ireland might be better when you have better weather, unless you've been before.
Mallorca would be fantastic in October as long as you're not looking for a tropical getaway. The north part of the island is beautiful, but is really nice if you rent a car, so that you can get out to Cap de Formentor. The train is really cool, it goes from Soller in the north to Palma de Mallorca, so it would be a really fun day.
You have a bunch of great choices though- hooray!
Canary Islands-- should be a great time of year, warm but not too crowded.
That said, we're heading to Ireland in Oct and are willing to spring for the Guinness, so maybe that's a game-changer for ya
