A Big Thank You, and Update (long)

Thank you so much ladies for all your kind words, thoughts and prayers, and good vibes!  It really means the world to me!!

I had my CT scan yesterday.  They said that I don't have a cyst on my ovaries or kidney stones.  Yay!!  I do however, have a cyst on my abdomen.  The way she explained it is that there is a band of fat that runs across the middle of your abdomen from one side to the other, and that is where the cyst is growing.  She said it is harmless and will go away on it's own.  She also thinks I am having severe IBS that is contributing to the pain (I have always had kind of a funny stomach, but never knew or thought I had IBS).  I got a RX for some antispasmodics to help, but haven't taken any yet.  I have this weird irrational fear of taking pills.  They can't figure out why there is blood in my urine, but it was a small amount and she didn't seem too concerned about it.  I have a follow up with my Dr. in a couple weeks.

I am relieved to know that nothing serious appears to be going on.  I am somewhat frustrated though because she acted as if what she found (and what she didn't find) shouldn't be causing me this much pain.  I am definitely in pain!

My mom didn't help matters much either.  She told me she thinks I just have a low pain tolerance!!  I had my wisdom teeth pulled 2 years ago.  I didn't want to be put asleep if I didn't have to be, so I was awake for it and just had them numb my mouth.  I didn't take a single pain pill after it (insert irrational fear of pills here).  I had surgery to remove a softball size ovarian cyst, and again never took a single pain pill prescribed after the surgery.  Went to the ER after another large cyst ruptured, and while it hurt like hell I was composed and dealing with it ok.  Oh, and in HS I was dropped during dance team and broke my foot.  Spent the rest of the day at school  limping around in high heel boots, only to go the the Dr. that night to find out I had been walking around with 3 broken bones in my foot!!  I might not have the highest pain tolerance in the world, but I definitely wouldn't call it low.  Yesterday I was sobbing in pain.  I had never done that with any of the things that happened above.  I was clearly in pain, but she acts like I'm just over reacting.  I decided to just not answer the phone when she calls for now.  I just can't deal with her!

Wow, this ended up longer that I thought.  Guess I just needed to vent and get that out!!  Again, thanks for listening and for all the kind words.  You girls are really the best, and I'm so blessed to have this board to turn to!

  • I must have missed your first post about this - I'm sorry to hear you're in so much pain, but glad that your CT had positive results. I hope you feel better soon!
  • Glad to hear this is not as serious as it could have been.  I hope the pain gets more tolerable for you!  Good luck with your mom.  I am sure that things will improve and until then, just lay low with your mom!

And my mom is the same way about my pain tolerance. Mine definitely isn't low, but it's not high, and she keeps telling me how I'm never going to make it through the pain of birth. Ugh, mothers.
