Odor elimination?

I baked tilapia a few days ago and the fishy odor is still lingering in my house.  I don't want to cover it up with something perfume-y.  Any tips?

  • Sometimes a bowl of vinegar sitting on the counter will help. Or just turn off the A/C & open the windows!

You can boil cloves and cinnamon on the stove; I'm not sure if you consider that to be perfume-y.  If the smell is in carpet/upholstery, you could try sprinkling baking soda around and then vacuuming it up the next day.  Baking soda+water (1 Tbl/cup), vinegar+water (1/4 c./gallon) or essential oil+water (5 drops/cup) can be used to wipe down surfaces and cabinets.  Tea tree oil has a nice crisp smell and disinfects at the same time.

  • Cinnamon and cloves sounds good!  I consider glade products perfume-y.

Thanks for all of the tips!
