Bath towels

Apart from something happing to them. When should I replace my bath towels. I still have some towels I bought when I got married about 5 yrs ago. I've added some. The 5 yr old ones seem thinner now, or thiner than the newer ones. Should the towels of lasted longer than that or am I not replacing them soon enough? Just wondering.

Re: Bath towels

  • I replace mine when I change my bathroom decor or when they get faded. I don't like faded towels. I don't think there is a certain time to change them. When you feel like it, I guess....

  • I have all white towels, so I don't have to worry about fading.  I replace my towels when they get frayed on the ends, or end up really thin from wear over the years.  I would also obviously replace them if I redecorated and somehow white didn't go with my new decor.  :)

  • I like using white towels too :) Yeah the older ones seem a little thiner than the new ones I bought.  I just wasn't sure if there was a good timeline for switching them out. I guess each house is different, depending on use. I also always bleach          ( gentle bleach ) my towels when I wash them. So they might last loner if I didn't, but I don't see myself not bleaching them :)
  • I agree with one of the above posts. Replace when they start fraying or seams start coming undone. If the thinner quality bothers you, I honestly put those in the other bathroom or guest room. I like to pamper myself and DH with nice, fluffy towels because we are the ones using them the most. Maybe you should just replace the ones you two use most often? Otherwise, it will get really expensive to replace towels as soon as they start to thin. But, the higher quality towels you buy, the less they should thin. Not sure what quality your 5 year old ones are, but in my experience, really luxurious towels do not start to noticeably thin that soon. They are going to feel a little different with every passing year, but you may be the only one noticing it.
