Right place?

So I'm not quite sure if I'm in the right place for this question or not. I'm making a bunch of cupcake for a craft fair and I've got to figure out some way to transport them. I don't make cupcake very often so I really don't want to shell out the money for a cupcake carrier.  Anybody have any ideas?

Re: Right place?

  • I was recently at a gourmet cupcake shop and they used these to store the cupcakes that were in waiting to be put out in the display.

I know Michael's has them on sale for like 5.00 right now.   Plus they are stackable and can easily be used for other things when not transporting cupcakes.  They held probably 16 cupcakes

  • When I need to transport cupcakes and they have to stay pretty, I use one of those plastic holders that the supermarkets use to sell their cupcakes. I got mine just from friends who had purchased store-bought cupcakes, but I'm sure the supermarkets would sell them to you (or a cake supply store may sell them, too!)

  • One of my coworkers makes cupcakes and brings them in to work.  She always uses the lid from a paper box, it's deep enough that she can cover the top with foil and it won't ruin the decorations and it's sturdy enough to fill with cupcakes so they won't slide around.
  • If you have enough cupcake pans, you could just sit them down in a shallow box.

Cupcake carriers can get expensive. A couple of years ago I got mine on end-of-summer clearance at WalMart for $3. They're regular cupcake pans that come w/ a locking lid w/ handles.
