Notions oranization

I'm ALMOST ready to finish up my craft room. I've got the wall painted, the chalk lines drawn to paint the stripes and the Ikea trip planned for the tables. I've also got several wall hanging stuff to sand and paint. Tonight, I went through ALL my fabric and organized it into WIP, scraps in various sizes and batting/fusible materials.

I have this old 3 drawer plastic bin that I used for notions, but it was organized with zip locks. I don't want to use that system anymore. (I also have a taller, skinner one that I could use if needed)

I am makign this for my spools of thread

and this for my bobbins (I am putting dowel rods in all the little holes that are all around it)

So I guess I'm just looking for organization for my scissors, rotary cutter, zippers, Velcro, etc.

Re: Notions oranization

  • I keep my scissors in a mug that has a crack, but I still like.  And I'll likely do the same for my rotary cutters.

I loved having cup hooks to put my rotary cutters on until I moved my room around.  It would work for scissors too if you have the space.

  • The spool organizer?  Is that just a frame with wood backing and nails?

  • Basically, yes! I found the idea on Pinterest. You take an old picture frame and sand it. Attach the very thin plywood behind it and paint both (I think I'll do mine with 2 different colors) and then drive in headless nails.

  • I love the spool organizer!

I'm no help when it comes to organizing craft rooms, as I am currently homeless. I'm living out of totes stored in my basement.
