Re: 'States Where No One Wants to Buy A New Home'

  • I guess I can understand why... but I just bought a new build and it was we are living in a new development that is selling houses as fast as they can build them.  The reason we bought a new build was because people were trying to sell their 15-20 year old houses for the same as the new builds.  We also did a TON of research about the builder before we bough our house.

I think it just depends on the area in Michigan.  I can absolutely see this applying to most areas in the state, but it just didn't apply to us.

  • Well that is totally understandable.  The economy in Michigan is horrible.  People are losing their jobs every single day. Companies are closing their doors permanently.  Some are choosing to move their business to other states.   It doesn't look like new jobs are coming anytime soon.  I wouldn't want to strap myself into a new home with a big mortgage if my job could be gone tomorrow.
  • Not surprising at all.  Like previous poster said, in some places you can get new builds for what people are selling homes for.  But at the same time, a lot of people arent moving because they cant sell their old home.  If you cant sell your old home makes it hard to move into a new home, whether it is a pre-existing or a new build.
