Central Vac or Dyson

I'm still undecided if I want to spend on a central vac unit or just get a dyson.  Any thoughts?

Re: Central Vac or Dyson

  • We have a two-story home, and I hate dragging the Dyson up and down all the stairs.  We will probably end up buying a second vaccuum.  I would LOVE to have a central vac unit.

  • My sister had central vac in her previous house. She does not have it in her current house so she bought a Dyson after I raved about mine. She loves the Dyson and says it works much better than the central vac she had in her other house.
  • Are you planning on moving anytime soon? If so you can take the dyson with you, you cant really take the central vac. We have a dyson and I love it. My parents had a central vac and you still had to carry a cord up each floor, I prefer the dyson.

  • I LOVE my Dyson, love it.

I've never had a central vac though.  Although pp point about moving is a good point.

  • I have both. I hate central vac. HATE. And ours is a nice unit. I've had one before and didn't like it then.

    I love my Dyson.

BUT we have a one story house. It would be annoying to lug the Dyson up and down stairs.

  • One story house-Dyson

    Two story- Central vac

  • My friend swears by central vac. I've never had it so I can't really comment. I have a Dyson and I think it's overrated. The plastic is really cheap and within a year pieces started breaking. Also I don't think it picks up pet hair that great. That's my 2 cents...

  • we are going to build soon and I am thinking NO central vac.  I think I will get the under cabinet kind in the kitchen for quick sweeping of crumbs...but then again, kids might think it is fun for it to suck up all kinds of things.

I have a Miele canister vac that I love and it is super light, so I am not against hauling up and down stairs.  We have a Dyson too that I don't use.....it will probably stay on whatever floor has the most carpet and least dog hair.
