Plantation Shutters?

We want to put plantation shutters on our windows and was curious if anyone has recommendations on where to buy? or where not to buy?

Re: Plantation Shutters?

  • We got ours through Home Depot here in Silver Spring.  We had some installation issues - the first two sets that they delivered were damaged, their installers were late and/or didn't show up) but once all was said and done, they actually stood behind their product.  We had them installed in our master bath, front entry, front door and three french doors in the kitchen.  We HATED the way that they looked on the front door and the french doors - they looked nothing like the pics of what we thought that we ordered - and they took them down and repaired the doors really well.

We LOVE them in the entry window and master bath - when they are recessed and sit flush in the window frame they look beautiful - I just wasn't in love with the look of the ones that protruded from the doors.  Now that they are in, we are really happy with the quality, but that said - it took three sets to get good quality shutters, and they are not cheap - so we definitely were not satisfied until they were perfect.

I wouldn't use them again, mostly because of the installation service.  My neighbor had Next Day Blinds in Rockville do his and he is very happy with them - but I know that he paid a fortune - somewhere around $800 each for tall, but pretty standard windows.
