Ebay users

I have never used ebay before.

So I signed up to post my BM dress.

While signed in, I came across a pair of baby legs I want. The bidding started at 4.50. I bid 4.75. I am the only bidder so far. There is 1 day left of bidding.

If I continue to be the only/highest bidder, how does it work? Does the seller email me? Can she decide she doesn't like my bid? Will I know?

Thanks!

Re: Ebay users

  • If she put a minimum of $4.50 then the highest bidder over that will win.  If it is you then you will get an email from ebay!
  • Yay! They are skull print. I really want them!

  • I've bought a lot of stuff from Ebay.  Keep in mind that someone can outbid you at the last second.  But....let's say you think the most would consider paying for them is $10.00.  If you bid $10.00, you aren't automatically paying $10.00 (unless you do a Buy it Now).  Ebay will put you at the next highest increment, like 10 cents or something, and will only up your bid if someone else out bids you.  Therefore the only way you would not get the item is if someone's final bid is more than $10.00, but you still might win at $4.75.  Good luck!

    Now do what?

I think my glass of wine has just kicked in.

Smile It's morning now, let the coffee kick in......basically, think about the highest amount you would be willing to pay for the item.  Use that as your bid.  Ebay will automatically keeping bidding for you against anyone else bidding up to that dollar amount.  That does not mean you will end up paying that amount.

Ex. I bid $10.00 on an item that is listed as $1.00, which raises the bid to $1.01.  Someone else bids $2.00...Ebay will automatically raise my bid to $2.01 (enough to outbid), all the way up to my limit $10.00 (if necessary).  If no one else bids after that, I won at $2.01.

  • Oh okay, that makes sense.

So what if I'm still the only bidder, as I am on 4 of the items I bid on?

There are only 2 hours left of one item.
