As much as I love our house and like that our neighbors are nice sometimes I wish we had done more research as to the foot traffic through our street. There is a bus stop about a quarter mile away and the foot traffic always comes through because of it. A few weeks ago our flag got pulled off the garage with E's truck in the driveway and E home. Then tonight I heard water and walked around the house and garage and then realized that the garden hose in the front yard was on. My Dad and his GF had been here and we didn't lock the gate behind them. Someone came in the yard and pulled the hose from its spot by the walk to the center of the yard, took the sprayer off and turned the water on and left it running. I had taken a nap and E said Simon was barking at something in the front but he thought it was just someone walking by so didn't go to look. I really hate that I feel like I have to always make sure the gate is locked and things we don't want taken left behind the gate. Ugh.
Thanks for listening to my vent.
Re: Ugh
I'd be upset too and quite frankly paranoid. I know that you said that you feel scared some what and when things keep happening like this it doesn't help any!
Have you asked some neighbors if this is common for this neighborhood? Maybe it's the summer kids?
Also, the water hose bit is so weird. I'd assume someone was thirsty and got scared that you could hear the water running inside the home and ran. Still not something that makes you feel any better but surely there isn't a water hose bandit looking to increase water bills. :-P
We knew when we moved in that each house on the street( there are 5 houses on our dead end street) had been broken into at least once over the last 20 years. Our neighbor told us that. Our neighbor has a hose in a spot that if it got turned on and used that you couldn't see it from there house so its odd that ours got turned on and not theirs but maybe ours was just more obvious.
And I hope there isn't a water hose bandit! E increases our water bill enough on his own!
