i am planning a baby shower in a few weeks and i want to make it extra special. the baby is a girl so i'm super excited to make everything pink and girly.
i threw one for my SIL a while ago and she was pretty specific about she wanted and didn't want. this time, i have free reign.
i really want to do something extra special for this one, make it really memorable.
anyone have any ideas or seen things that they really loved at a baby shower? it could be anything from decor to food to special advice for the mom to a special game.
any one whose had a baby shower... any suggestions?
TIA! (this is for everyone to answer, except uw because since the title says baby she probably won't come in. uw, if you are here, you can still give your advice if you wanna play.)
Re: baby shower question
what favors do you think i should have?? any suggestions? should i make cake pops too or is that too much dessert?
i love the design of the tablescape. Are you making the pom poms and/or the paper(?) vases. i love the colors of them, though i know your going for more pink.
I haven't been to a baby shower in a while, so can't really give any input of whats the latest and greatest.
you're going to have a beautiful baby shower and i'm uber jealous!
my fave game i've ever played at a baby shower is "pin the swimmers on the egg".....but you have such beautiful decor, i don't know you could get away with a game that is so silly.

omg jenn- that game would be totally funny but i think my grandma would sh!t.
kahala- i'm just doing the poms, in grey, dark pink, light pink, and white.
i need help with a favor.. or should people just be able to bring cupcakes home since i'm making 3 kinds which usually equals about 200 cupcakes (the mini version)
last time i did a candy buffet but that was a LOT of work and too hard to find candies in my specific colors.. well actually, i'm just too lazy this time.
Decor is going to be gorgeous.
As far as a favor - I'd let them take cupcakes, maybe have a little box or bag that they can transport them in.
My only suggestion is no games that require the mom to be to pick a favorite. The past two showers I went to had games like that and after the fat the mom told me it was really awkward.
OOPS!

I don't think so. I LOVE those poms... I've made them for several occasions and always get complimented on them. I have a baby shower banner in my blog if you are interested at all.
Also, you could do cake pops as the favor - two birds with one stone and all that.
Good luck!

Jenn told me this post wasn't scary and so I've decided to come it. Don't think I won't bolt if this starts turning in to scary baby talk though.
This is the prettiest baby shower decor I've ever seen!
Do you know what kind of flowers you want to do? I think continuting the pom pomness in the flowers would be cute with lots and lots and lots of carnations. I've never really been a fan of those, but I'm really growing fond of them when they're tightly packed and very streamlined:
What if you packaged the cake pops for the favors that way you can do cupcakes and cake pops?
kari- thank you!
ok, i won't do anything like that. i'm going to a game where they have to figure out what the baby name is for different animals, maybe make them guess what kind of baby food a few are... and something else... but i hate games. i would be happy if there weren't games. i'm giving out starbucks gift cards as gifts..
oh, we're also doing a diaper raffle.. i'm giving a target gift card for that.
Does the mom want games?
I recently went to a baby shower where there weren't any games and we just ate, hung out and opened presents. It was the loveliest shower ever.
this. and that is the one game the guest of honor asked not to have... i hate that one too. especially when you do it with toilet paper.
Another easy one that doesn't take a ton of time is giving each person a clothes pin and the first time they say baby (or whatever word you choose) whoever catches them gets the pin. Winner is whoever has the most.
i hate this game with a passion......please check with the guest of honor to see if she likes it. i know i'm the only one that hates this game. i cringed when i read it (sorry kari, if you like the game!)

i forgot about this game. i already bough pink clothes pins, we're playing this one. lol. it's one i don't have to monitor until the end. i just asked her and we'll see what she says.
i'd LOVE to not play games! i hate them!
i LOVE carnations!!! especially when they are like that! thank you for reminding me!!! i've been trying to think of flowers all day! lol.
i'll ask the mom if she likes the idea of cake pops. thanks girls!
Oh, I never said I liked it! But it's easy and I'd much rather do that then try to guess what the hell candy bar someone melted in a diaper!
Whoever thought of this name needs to be shot. This game seriously makes me want to puke.
i thoroughly enjoy this game!!!
but it's a waste of diapers!
