Because I am feeling guilty ![]()
Friday night I ordered a laptop. A pretty expensive laptop...
I already own a laptop, it's like four years old, a heavy 15" widescreen laptop, the "o" key sticks, and the corners are a little broken from when the ex accidently dropped it. It's fully functional, the "o" key is annoying, but overall it works just fine.
But I am starting grad school in September. Grad School. And I decided that I didn't want this heavy laptop that reminded me of the ex with its broken corners and stuff.
So I bought a new laptop, a 13" laptop that is about half the weight of my current laptop. I do a fair amount of work during the evenings and weekends, and with grad school I will be doing tons of homework too, so I will be on this laptop a.lot over the next two years. So I bought a more expensive laptop that looked all sleek, since I will be on it all the time and it will make me happy, and I didn't even look at the brand that the Ex used to recommend. Because he was an idiot. And apparently I still have baggage about him, gone in most areas but apparently still plentiful in the area of IT. ![]()
I am wasteful. But I am excited about my expensive new ( and un-necesssary) laptop.

Snowflake - that sounds like it was almost a necessity!
My confession - DH and I plan to spend a ridiculous amount of money on dinner Friday night in Vegas. I'm talking the amount of money that could be some people's mortgage payment.
I know I should feel silly doing this, and maybe a little guilty, but I don't. DH and I love food and dining experiences and I'm glad we're in a position that we can do this.
Um... I'm super jealous! Can I ask which restaurant is getting your mortgage payment? LOL
Edited to clarify!

Thankfully this does not cut into my actual mortgage payment!

sometimes i'm glad i'm not a true-foodie...because that's an expensive hobby! i love food, and i love good food, but i wouldn't ever be able to justify it. but tell us how it is!!!
snowflake - that was a total necessity. no guilt involved!
my confession: i purposely didn't fold two loads of laundry over the weekend because i know h's cousin will do it today while i'm at work

Kari- Enjoy and let us know how it goes! We are going to vegas next month, and with all the entertainment and drinking/clubbing we plan to do. We aren't going to have the budget for a fancy schmanzy dinner ;( Buffets here we come!
Confession- None really, i had a boring weekend.
i really just wanted to give my two cents about food!
Have fun! We're forgoing any shows and we're not clubbers by any means - so this is our big splurge, well this and the suite I booked instead of staying at Excalibur like we normally do!
DH's only other request while in Vegas is that we act like we're 21 and go get ridiculously drunk on Fremont Street! I find it amusing because we'll be there on his 34th birthday.
This place looks ah-mazing.
Snowflake- there's nothing to feel guilty about. I think that was a very wise decision!
I fully intend on being the person that takes pictures. Last time I did a tasting menu in Vegas - they gave me a copy of the menu and had the chef sign it!
I have DH convinced we have to try the 16 course tasting menu.
You only live once, right?
I think my heart just skipped a beat. I was drooling over that menu earlier.
Do you need a 3rd wheel?
HOLY EFFING SHEET. I'm so, SO jealous now!!! DH and I dream of going to Robuchon. Seriously. Like - we were in Paris and it crossed our minds to get a reservation at his Paris restaurant. I'm so sad we didn't. You'll have to spill all about it when you get back!!

That will be amazing!!!! I cannot wait to hear all about it, see the pictures, everything!!!!
I think of that dinner as a once in a lifetime event, the kind of thing you will regret if you do not do it. So not a waste of money.
LOL you should send him to my house. Today I am wearing pants that are too small - which has made me super self conscious all day long - because I was too lazy to put my laundry away yesterday. I woke up late today, rushed around to get ready, and then realized all my regular clothes are wrinkled. So if your H's cousin is bored at your house - send him to mine!
oh good idea, i should strategically set out the iron/ironing board tonight
. just kidding! would be nice though.
