Moms - Do I really need a humidifier for the nursery?
We have radiators heated by hot water so our house stays comfortable in the winter and the air isn't dry (like forced air heat) so I feel like one isn't necessary. Thoughts?

Re: Moms - Do I really need a humidifier for the nursery?
it was invaluable when milo had colds this past winter, we put it on every night now next to the air duct and it keeps the room cooler.
buy a crane's, the cutesy animals one. we have had 4! and this was the quietest and worked the best. very easy to clean.
We have the Crane frog. I used it once when he was sick and it didn't seem to help. It also leaked everywhere. It can't hurt to have one in case you need it but it's not a must have in my opinion.
The thing that helped the kid most with colds was saline drops for his nose, infant tylenol (or infant motrin once they're old enough), Vick's baby rub and lots of extra love.
I never registered for one, but when Charlie got his first little cold at 5 weeks I went out and bought one (just a Vicks one, no animal).
Between the two of them, we used it a lot. When they are that little, you can't and don't want to give them a lot of meds and it really helps clear them out.
I would recommend it. If you get one, make sure it is cool mist.

Just make sure you clean it out every week or so, b/c it can collect mold.

My SIL bought one for me when Bella was sick as a baby and had trouble breathing. She bought hthe warm mist Vicks one that had the special Vicks liquid stuff in it. I don't use it often, but when I did use it, it was really great .Totally opened her up.
I think I am going to get the cool mist one for every room for this winter. Andrew gets very dry and has nose bleeds, I get really dry and so does Bella.
We registered for (and received) the Vick's cool mist. If this kid is anything like me, he will be sick all. the. time.
Glad to hear other's have had success with the Vicks!
