best job search resources for the Omaha area?

I am not in the market for a new job.  We're hiring.

What are the best resources for job searching in Omaha (i.e. where should we post our listing)?  I know of careerlink and obviously the more major resources like monster, and we'll go that route - but last time we received over 150 severely unqualified applicants through careerlink, and that was annoying to sift through.  But I guess that's part of the deal.

TIA

Re: best job search resources for the Omaha area?

  • Whenever I search for a job, I feel that careeerlink is the only really reliable place to look.  I feel like on Monster and Careerbuilder there is a lot of CRAP.  I think Indeed and Simply Hired are some additional ones you might check into.

  • I agree with Lindz.  When I was job-hunting, I felt like Monster and the like listed less reputable jobs and drew less reputable candidates.  Careerlink seemed the most legit and easy to navigate.  There are SO many people looking for jobs right now that people are just applying for anything and everything.

You could always hire an employment agency, even if it's just to weed out the rifraff and save you time.

(btw -- if it's any sort of marketing/communications position, let me know.  I have the PERFECT candidate for that)  (not me)

  • I think Careerlink is best, but you will be unqualified people wherever you post.  I think Monster is the worst for posting, super saturated with jobs that are unrelated to what they are posting them under, so the good jobs get lost in with the unrelated jobs.  Coming from a job applicant that is.  You want yours to be posted in the most relative place.  GL sifting!
  • I ONLY search careerlink and NE Dept of Labor. I have never had luck with sites like simplyhired. Craigslist you can try but anytime I've emailed about jobs it is either spam or I never get a response so I'm not sure how many rely on that. Careerlink I think is one of the best sites the way it is organized. You could also go through an agency but I can't stand them and won't even apply for jbs they advertise.
  • What about linkedin.com?

Husker Hire Link is used by UNL grads and alum.  UNO might have something similar, too?

  • I would try posting with college campus career centers.  I know I've found jobs in the past by going that route, a lot of college graduates and alumni that I know usually look there as part of the job search.
