How far apart to quilt cotton batting?

I bought some cotton batting from the local store, and I forgot to ask how far apart I am supposed to quilt it... (It came from a roll, so no packaging). Anyone know?

Is it low loft or high loft? And is it 80/20 or 100% cotton?
If low loft and 80/20 (that's pretty standard- I know most of the ladies on here, myself included, use Warm And Natural or Warm and White) then you can quilt it as far apart as you want or as close together as you want. Really versatile stuff.
