New to area, need recommendations....
I just moved to Rockland county 2 weeks ago and am in need of recommendations. I need to find a new gynecologist (who does IUDS), a new dentist, a new eye doctor, and a new primary health provider. I live in Suffern but would be willing to travel ~30 minutes in any direction if necessary. Thank you!
Re: New to area, need recommendations....
welcome again! we live in Nyack. i can recommend to you the dr's i use. they are pretty local in rockland..
gynecologist - Peter Simonson (im not sure if he does IUDs) - Suffern
dentist - Dr. Marvin - Nanuet (about 10 mins from Suffern). LOVE him!
Eye Doctor - Spring Valley Optical - Nanuet (I just started going to them and have no complaints)
Primary Care Doctor - Dr. Ingrassia - Nanuet

Welcome. I live in New City.
My OB is in Suffern and I LOVE her. Laurie Solomon - 357-8884.
My eye doc is also in Suffern, Dr. Samuel Berger... Link.
Dentist is great. I just got a ton of work done. I used the associate, Dr. Patel, loved him. Link
And my PCP has been Dr. Zimmerman for all of my adult life. Its a large practice so I have probably seen him twice, but I dont mind. They see me right away and are all very nice. Rockland Pulmonary & Medical Associates...link

Welcome again. I live in Tappan and grew up in Suffern as well.
OB/GYN - Ramapo Valley OB/GYN - Pomona - Love them, Tara Scaglione the nurse practitioner imperticular - 845-354-1113
Dentist - Dr. Han - Northvale, NJ - absolutely no complaints
Eyes - Dr. Kirk Flynn, Pearl River - no issues there either. I used to go to Ira Clement in Suffern as well and never had a problem there.
General Practitioner - Mawhah Medical, Mahwah, NJ. Would recommend seeing AnnMarie.
Gynecologist - I was less than thrilled with Stavis and Hostin who I used from the time I was 18 until I had my first daughter at 29. And then I was not impressed with Sabatini/Paskowski/Quayle when I had my second daughter last year. But I did like Paskowski and was fine with their nurse practitioners which gets you earlier appointments anyway- it's just the administration of the practice that I didn't particularly like. I am considering changing again, maybe to Laurie Solomon - heard nice things about her. She's in Suffern.
Dentist - Warren Marvin in nanuet. The Marvins are sort of relatives, and I've been going to them forever, so I might be biased. But I have no complaints. I prefer Barbara as the hygenist and try to make appointments with her.
Eye doctor - been to William Schwartz in Pomona and it was fine. They do not sell glasses/contacts so there's no added pressure to purchase or to tell you that your prescription changed. Also used Kirk Flynn more recently. The appointment was fine - has Saturday hours and a shop in the office and at this point in life, I needed that convenience. Definitely spent more than if I had a prescription for lenses and just went to lenscrafters on my own time, but when you need to arrange childcare for 2 kids to go, you take what's there - lol!
my primary health provider is in NYC by my office. But when I need a local doctor, on say the weekend or am too sick to travel into NYC, I log in to my insurance online and change my provider to Peter Strassberg in Nanuet. He's located in the walk in clinic between toys r us and wendy's in Nanuet. While it's a walk in clinic, they also are primary care physicians there and you can make well visit appointments. My husband used them for this too and since he rarely needs anything other than an annual well visit and maybe 1-2 flu visits or something like it, it works for him. He hasn't found a doctor he likes in quite a few years so this is fine for now. I'm sure there are women on staff there too.
My OB/GYN is OB/GYN of Rockland. I know they offices all over the County. I like them so far. I used to go to Jakus & Klein in Nyack, but they are getting older and always asking after my Mom (they worked with her) so I stopped going there.
My PCP is Dr. Lawrence Model in Pomona, NY. Me, Hubby and my son all go see him. I like him a lot.
My dentist (when I go...bad girl that I am) is in Westchester.
We haven't really gone to the eye doc, so I have no recommendation there.
Oh and BTW..Welcome to Rockland.
Wow-almost all my Dr.'s are on here so I guess I am using some good ones!
OBGYN-I go to Tallman OBGYN in suffern. I see Dr. Passano and have for about 10 years. I love her but have heard some mixed reviews about the other doctors there.
PC-Rockland Pulmonary-I use Dr. Dechino. She is wonderful but as PP said it is a very big office and that can be annoying.
Eye-Dr. Schwartz in Pomona. I actually see Dr. Pollack there but they are all good.
Dentist-Dr. Marvin, as all the PP's have said they are awesome.
Good Luck!
