I've decided to get off my butt and do something about this baby making (or lack thereof). This weekend I got the world's faintest line after POAS so I really thought I had tested too early this month and was actually pregnant. Tested three more times like a crazy person yesterday and today and then got my period today. Ugh. WTF???
Anyway, I decided to go ahead and start temping, but I don't get it and I'm scared of the bump. On Fertility Friend it says the best day to do it is the day BEFORE your temp rises. How am I supposed to know it's the day before it rises if it hasn't risen yet?
I'm going to get TCOYF this weekend, but since my cycle started today I want to go ahead and start temping ASAP. My extra question here is - I just take the temp and put it in the chart right? That's it?

Re: Can someone help me with charting?
Basically what beeyotch said. The first month is will be just a guess until you actually get a spike in temp. If your cycle is pretty consistent in the number of days then halfway through would be about when you ovulate. After that first month you'll have an idea of when you are about to ovulate.
Before getting pg my spike was never consistent, but my cycles were not always the same number of days. Heck, I even tried the OPKs and still didn't get a positive with that, so I was never always sure when I was ovulating.
Just watch your temps and as you near the middle have lots of sex!
With the chart you can also enter in when you have sex, results for any tests you take, and any symptoms you have. I usually just enter in the days I have my period and when we have sex. I'm thinking about starting back up with temping, I just have to get back in the habit of doing it first thing.
Good luck.

I read all of TCOYF, while not always the most enthralling read, it is worth the effort. What FF says will make a lot more sense if you read that book.
Temping will only tell you that you probably have ovulated, not that you're about to, so it is best if you use one of the other methods to see if it is your most fertile time. OPKs are helpful also if you are unsure.
What do you mean by read the stuff FF gives me? I read the little powerpoint thing and read a few of the Q&A. Is there a certain section that I should read?
I can definitely enter the temps and put down when we do it. I plan to do that for a few months and then maybe get OPKs. They seem pretty expensive unless I'm understanding wrong - do you pee on them everyday? I do like to pee on things apparently.
Oh, random side note - I bought dollar store pg tests the other day and didn't look at the box. I got some sort of kind you have to pee in a cup and then use a dropper to drop pee on the window. Yeah - giving those to goodwill. Way too confusing!
One more question that I'm failing at finding the answer for - what's the best time to take my temp? My H's alarm goes off at 5 and mine is 6:45. Is 6:45 too late since I'm already semi awake at 5?
I just don't want to wake up at 5 on the weekend! I'll do it if it's better, but I prefer 6:45 of course! I googled and looked on FF, but I don't see anything.
Hopefully I can remember all your questions.
Buy OPKs from amazon. You can get a whole bunch for cheap. Yes, you test everyday. Supposed to be first morning pee. The OPKs I bought were like that pg test. So I kept paper cups in the bathroom and used them in the morning. Not too complicated as they include everything else you need. I did try testing at other times during the day, but that didn't do anything for me.
I would say go with the 5am alarm for testing. Since you are waking up at that time 5 days a week and you need to be consistent. What I would do when I had to do an early morning temp before I actually had to get up was leave the thermometer next to my alarm clock, turn it on, stick it in my mouth till it beeped, turn it off and go back to sleep. Mine stored that most recent temp so I would just write down the temp later in the day once I was awake.

I agree, that is what I did also.
As far as OPK's, they can be expensive, that's why I just watched my CM and charted my temps. It worked out for TTA and TTC for us.

Baby Sister is coming soon!
Yeah, tell me about it! At the beginning I was freaked out over the thought that I would get pregnant. Now I'm getting freaked out that I won't.
I'm almost wanting to just go back on bc and not have kids. I don't appreciate all this mind game stuff. I like my life to be easy! (...so technically I guess I shouldn't be wanting kids anyway!).
