Know the Beattitudes?..please help!

Tomorrow I have to take in a picture of one of the Beattitudes in action..HELP!!! I know NOTHING about them.

Re: Know the Beattitudes?..please help!

  • Like from the Bible?  I would google Matthew 5:3-12 and they should come up.  All the "Blessed are the..." lines are what you would be looking for.  I think maybe the easiest ones might be "Blessed are the peacemakers.." or maybe "blessed are they who mourn..." b/c you could have some people pose for those.

  • Thanks.  I found a picture of someone consoling a mourner..I think I'll use that

  • The beatitudes are "blessed are those who..." and the basics are that those who suffer, are poor, meek, merciful, etc... are actually blessed... for blessed are the:

...the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
...they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
...the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
...they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
...the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy
...the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
...the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
..they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

The one who is mourning being comforted is a great one... peacemakers would be another cool one.... kind of the idea that when we go through trials, we get to experience positives from them... if we were never to mourn, we'd never know comfort... In Luke it talks about blessed are those who weep for they shall laugh tomorrow... I think it's kinda cool that if we never wept, we'd never know the true joy and appreciation of laughter... make sense?

What is this for? You have my curiosity going! Big Smile

  • Thanks!  I had found the list of them but didn't really understand them.

We have to bring in a picture of one of them in action for our Prof. development tomorrow. The theme of our school year is the Beattitudes, so I guess they are making sure we understand them before the kids do.
