Cleaning White Leather Furniture???

What are you ladies using to clean white leather furniture???

My parents gave me beautiful Le Corbusier style leather chairs several years ago, and overtime they have gotten dirty, despite my diligence.  They are made of high grade leather (no split hide and all even grains) and they are slightly off-white.  I've noticed the sneaker cleaners at shoe stores for white leather but I would need to buy 40 bottles to clean 2 chairs so I'm looking for an easier option.

  • Most White leather is what is known as pigment coated or finished leather.
This can be difficult to keep clean if a good leather protector is not used which will act like a scotchgard and help to prevent it from becoming soiled.
The biggest enemy of leather is dirt and body oils and it is crucial that leather is kept clean tonprevent damage being done to the finish. However some cleaners can also be detrimental to the leather.
Vinegar: This is an acid and should not be used to clean finished leather as it may damage the finish and remove colour.
Baking soda: this is an abbrasive which can also damage the finish and the same with salt.
Dove: a soap which may leave harmful residues on the surface which will do long term damage to the finish.

Oils and waxes should never be used on finished leather as these will sit on the surface and attract more dirt which is counter productive.

Correct cleaners should be used and these will prolong the life of your leather.
