We had a busy past couple of weekends working on our house. We put in a new back door and installed a dog door in it (I was getting exasperated with having to let three dogs all on different schedules in and out of the house) last weekend. This past weekend we spent a fun/overwhelming couple of hours in Ikea and then Lowes and bought a new cabinet thing to hang on the wall and a tv wall mount kit so that we could transition the current tv stand up to the nursery to use as a changing table and have the added benefit of going ahead and childproofing our living room a little bit. Parts of our house still look like a construction zone, but overall I am so happy with how the house looks after each little project.
I don't have a great before picture, just one from Christmas, but you can see the old tv stand and the tv:
And here is what the living room looks like now:

And our new back door:

And what the nursery currently looks like (the twin bed is staying in there):

In this one you can see the repurposed tv stand (we still need to get a changing pad for it, but obviously are in no rush):
And my mom also recently brought over a wrought iron bench glider that my grandmother had and it's adding some needed balance to our little front patio, and everytime I see it, it gives me the feeling that my grandmother is watching over us and our house:
Anybody done some recent home improvements that you want to AW? Or anything you are planning in the future/coming soon?
Re: Home Improvements
We have been refinishing the front bedroom (which will hopefully be a nursery next spring) since April...It has been a much more lengthy process than I envisioned, and is nearing completion...but I'm not going to PIP it until it is finished (mostly because I am terrible at PIP) Since shortly after the wedding our house has been a constant home improvement
You were a busy bee! A dog door would be a wonderful addition to our house, but our backyard isn't fenced in yet and I know I couldn't trust the dogs to chain themselves up
Our next house project is to insulate our kitchen floor, there will definitely not be PIP of that unless you want to see my toasty feet. The floor was painfully cold last winter. We are also currently doing some plaster work in what will become our nursery. We want to do it right and not be rushed when the time comes for us to need the room so we are just doing a little every day.
Huge upgrade in the living room - nice job!
We finally got our last mirror (and hung it) - our house came with three bathrooms, none of which had mirrors or shower doors. I had people come today to measure for frameless shower doors
I'll post when i take some pics - but I definitely know the high for having accomplished some of these tasks!!!
Awesome job!!
DH and I don't own yet, but hopefully we will soon, and I'm already making a mental list of things that will have to be done.
