AmyByrd

Were you able to get any answers about Elle?

Re: AmyByrd

  • Not yet--the doc said it was too early to determine if she had milk issues which she doubts because she was on a milk based formula.  She of course recommended drinking juice(which does not happen for elle I feel like I have the only child on the planet who won't drink juice) and eat fruit(which we do but she jsut eats so little).  So it feels like we have screaming poops almost daily--or at least on the weekends.  This week has been slightly better but I might take her in next week if it doesn't improve.

  • Screaming poops are horrible. I am not usually a huge fan of medication before figuring out the issue, but I'd definitely look into the Miralax just so she doesn't associate the pain with pooping, and try to hold it in.

Does Elle like water? You could try popsicles, if you haven't already, for more fluids. I actually started watering down Alex's milk. I'd give her regular whole milk when I usually would, but when I would have given her juice, but she didn't want it, I'd add a lot of water to the milk so the flavor was there, but she wasn't getting as much, in case that is what was making her have issues.

How does she position herself when she's going? Is she ramrod straight? Can you bend her and have her still try to get it out? Alex goes stiff straight standing when it's hard to go, which makes it worse of course. We try to lay her down and bend her, but then she just stops. So it doesn't help with us (unless it's partway out and then she gets manual help). My nephew though, would go straight, but would continue to try to push when his mother would lay him down and bend his legs.

Gah, never thought I'd have to know so much about the pooping process.

  • I hear you, I know more than I want to and have talked more about it than I ever thought I would.  She squats and holds onto something and doesn't resist if I bend her legs.  I am just worried that she will think it is always painful.  My doc is very easy going which is why I chose her because I am so reactive but she will recommend interventions if necessary--liek with the tubes in her ears she got us right into the specialist and jumped on it.  Since she doesn't seem worried yet I am trying to be relaxed, but this week is kind of it for me--it will have been 3 weeks and if there is a pattern we need to do something.
