Boozeday Tuesday

Hola ladies.

What a craptastic night.  Yesterday afternoon I found out that I'll be helping out in my old department at the end of the month.  When I took this job they changed/added to the responsibilities and made that *official* rather than just implied.  It just sucks and I don't want to do it.

Then some road-planning genius decided it would be a great idea to funnel an interstate down to one lane for bridge work...and they weren't even working.  The road warning signs said it would be a 15 minute delay, but it took me an hour longer than usual to get home.  I'll be finding an alternate way home from work until this is done.

And, finally, Baby Q picked up a cold and so he and I were up most of last night.  At 4:30 I finally woke K up, passed off the baby and lost consciousness til 6:15.  Thank goodness for coffee.

Re: Boozeday Tuesday

  • oh susieq, i read that on your facebook feed.  horrible, you poor dear!  reason #2 i am not having a kid for awhile: i relish sleep too much. (reason #1 is no desire,ha!) hope you get caught up today!

and nothing pisses me off like highway construction with highways being reduced to single lanes...and no work being done!  grrrrr.

had an ok night, got my message, visited my parents.  made delicious steak and taters on the grill, watched anthony bourdaine (love him more than any food personality) an soaked my blisters.  going to do some errands tonight and go for a run.

was totally looking forward to a relaxing night at home and a 5 miler tomorrow night too, but i forgot i have a work cocktail party.  i think it will be fun but i would prefer to be running!

also, this autumn like weather is not acceptable.  45 degrees this morning?  f*ck off.

  • Oh Susie, I'm sorry! Hopefully tonight you can get caught up. I keep having conversations with B that since she is making mommy feel awful now that she can make it up to me by sleep through the night from the beginning.

Last night we also grilled out and had yummy steak and noodles. Nothing was really on last night so we just watch some MNF, and reruns of American Pickers and Pawn Stars. Tonight Greg works so it's my catch up on the list of shows I DVR on Sunday, which is I think about 4(Drop Dead Diva, Against the Wall, RHWONJ, and a new show that I thought was about the Manzo but apparently couldn't read.)

Shauni- I'm not jealous of your 45 degree weather but I do love fall. That is the one season I miss but like 60's fall not 45.

  • A pox on unwanted work, commuting issues, lack of sleep and sickness for babies! I hope Q is feeling better soon!

Why the F do transportation departments think it's a good idea to do that kind of work during normal commuting hours? WHY? I will never understand that.

It's another gorgeous day here. This is my bad allergy time of year so I'm bracing.

We've had so much flipping rain, I literally cannot keep up with the weeds and flowers. The weeds replace themselves overnight and they are huge. I need to do a bunch of dead heading too. Maybe Thursday night. I dread looking at my front beds when I walk out to my car in the morning.

I'm annoyed that I had to work late last night since we are watching SIL's boys tonight and going out for dinner Wednesday plus I have my aunt staying at our house. I wanted to get more done last night but I didn't get home until 7:30.

I stopped at Home Depot for ceiling fan bulbs, Pets Plus for dog food, and ACME for tomatoes. I made dinner salads and two lunch salads, washed sheets, and visited with my mom while MFD made dinner. Then I ran and emptied the dishwasher, packed lunch and gym bag, watched Hell's Kitchen and read in bed.

    zzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • hey all!

It's a gloomy, gloomy day here today.  The sky parted and the heavens opened up with TONS of rain.  :-(  Wouldn't mind it, but my pants got soaked going just from my car to the building.  Oh well, what can you do.

Because they are not smart. My ex went to school for civil engineering and works for the DOT and he wasn't very smart. So this is always my response.

Especially if they are using the barrels or cones...open lanes of traffic!  It will do wonders for public opinion of DOTs.  Sadly, they have the concrete barriers up, so this section will be one-lane 24/7 until they are done.  But I would happily pay the DOT workers overtime if they'd work 24/7 until it's done.

  • Hope babyQ feels better soon and that mommy gets some sleep!

Morning ladies. I think I'm getting sick. Not what I need right now.

Got home about 8:30 from the nursing homes and worked on some school stuff since I basically have zilch planning time now.

Today it's the schools then the pediatric outpatient clinic. I need to ask her if she can reschedule and let me start at 4. I hate leaving the schools so early and I always feel so rushed. I'm debating about going the nursing homes tonight after my 4:30 eval (should take about an hour or so) but I doubt I will. I really need to get to the gym and waking up in the mornings for it is just not happening.

That is one of the biggest reasons I'm hesitant.  It's sad.  But in the last 2 days, I've come across several situations that made me worry about putting it off too long.  DH and I said we'll talk on our vacation next month.

Last night, I almost missed my train.  Luckily, I managed to get on just before the doors closed.  I also learned I need a belt - I have the hardest time with jeans because if I can find one that will fit my thunder thighs, it's usually a size too big at the waist.

DH lost track of time and didn't call me until 9pm - then couldn't talk because he had to go pick up his dinner.  Sometimes I wonder about him....

  • Got home yesterday, missing the rush hour Anonymous group protestors, by an hour or so (even though they were not targeting my train stop, I think it still would have affected me on the way home if I worked until 4:30 or 5pm). Got home and unwound by vegging out until it was 6p and then took the dog for a walk. Really wanted to run but she got overheated too quick and I left water at home (I felt like a bad doggy-mommy) and we weren't close to any water fountain. At least we got in 3 miles of walking. Made dinner and hit my pillow at 9;30am. Today, going to stop off at Zales for my semi-annual ring inspection, OSH for more potting soil and then home. Since H is off work, we're going for a hike in the hills Big Smile.

SusieQ - hope baby feels better soon. Sucks about the ride home, I hate road construction during peak hours.

  • Morning ladies!  Last night was awesome, we watched a cheesy Sci Fi (oh, excuse me, SyFy) movie with Tiffany in it and I played around with an awesome app that stores all of our trip info and updates stuff like flight times and gate numbers - sweet!  Also, a friend of ours bought us a case of Coke from Mexico, which we had been raving about (sooo much better with cane sugar instead of corn syrup!), and I have a bottle for lunch so I'm a happy camper.

Today is an easy day, I think.  We leave Thursday morning so tomorrow is my last work day this week - woot!

  • Holllllller vacation time Laura! Woot.

I am crying laughing at a 35 year old man on my FB taking photos of himself in the bathroom mirror and posting them for the entire world to see. Why? Get someone to take your photo or do a self portrait if you want people to see how good you look.

p.s. you don't look that good.

  • Hi girls. Commuting construction issues and sick babies are not on my list of wants. Sucky stuff Susie. Hope Baby Q at least feels better soon.

Spent basically all day yesterday powerwashing our house and porches (with help from hubby b/c there was no way I could've done it alone.) He even mowed one of the lawns while it was my turn so I don't have to do that this week. Yay! Although, I do still have to do ours and weedwhack... but... oh well.

Oh, and I got an unexpected overnighted package from FedEx this morning containing only a cashiers check. Sent from an address in CA that is a hotel (looked it up online) and a person whose name I don't recognize. Assuming it's a hoax, although the banks listed DO exist. wondering what to do with it.... any thoughts?

Is your name on the check?  I would call the hotel and ask about it.  It could be legit, but for someone else (maybe with the same name).  If they say it's for you, though, I wouldn't cash it unless you realize that it really is for you somehow (like a hotel in their chain owes you a refund or something), but I doubt that you would forget something like that.

  • Steph - I have one of those, too!  My guy used to be superchunk in high school and is now, um, not.  So he takes lots of photos in his DoucheGear (TM, lol!) clothes, douchey facial hair, and sexyface/Blue Steel look.  Ugh, get a life!  But yes, too funny to unfriend.

Laura - yay for vacation!  I'm so glad you decided to do Seattle, since you're flying so far to be in OR for the wedding anyway.  And Mexican Coke is the best.

SusieQ - H was just telling me the other night that the ladies at work were warning him that BD will catch colds when we put him in day care.  I was like, is this really news to you?  Lol.

Tbears - I vote scam, for sure.  The banks exist, it's just that the accounts on the cashier's check is likely fake.

  • Kind of a lazy night last night, tried to catch up on sleep I missed out on from Sunday, but failed.  Boo.  Work is insane, with no respite in sight.  And all I want to do is shop for Predator!

  • It does have my name on it, and to it's credit it *looks* real.... I always assume scam first, but hey, it would be nice if it were real, the $$ could come in handy. :) The thing is... how do I check? It shouldn't any kind of refund... I've never even been past Nebraska in my western travels... haha.

Like I said, I would call the hotel.  But only because it might be for someone else - if you aren't aware of it, people probably don't owe you money, and if they try and tell you that it's actually yours, I'm willing to bet it's a scam.

Or else call the bank it's drawn on and ask them to verify that the account exists.  If it's a national bank that has a local branch, take it in and have them confirm the validity of the check.  But I vote scam too.
