So my DH is off to a party tonight that I wasn't really up for after the super long week at work. I've had the videos in my possession for a while now but haven't had a great opportunity to sit down and watch them.
I am a weepy mess! What a great day. Seeing it from a totally different perspective is so weird. I held in my head a very different version. Seeing snippet of DH when I wasn't looking just makes me love him more. His aunt tragically died about 2 weeks after our wedding so seeing her do the reading and she was actually video taping most of the time, was strange, sad and sweet. I miss her. It's kind of great that we have so much of her manner and wit on this tape actually. I also kept thinking - MAN I need to work on my posture!
Have you guys watched yours? What did you think?
Re: Have you watched your wedding video?
A friend did a video for us, and he did a great job editing and all. I watched it when we were in India right after the wedding. I learned a lot about the day that I didn't know. It certainly looked like there was a family dispute in the church. No one talk about it, so I know I'm right. The BM and priest looked extremely nervous, but DH was happy and relaxed throughout. I was pleasantly surprised by myself on video (I don't like my photos much), but I hate my voice ugh.
DH shows the video (and ALL the photos) to anyone and everyone who comes over. I usually leave the room, though, because I find it a bit painful (on account of my mom). Hopefully in time I can watch it again with good memories.
We did a video of just the ceremony - I watched it right after the wedding and it was cool to see it from a different perspective, but I dont think I was as excited about it at the time because I had just lived it. Now I'd probably enjoy it a bit more - maybe we'll watch it again sometime soon.
DH's uncle was all over the reception with his camcorder, I have yet to see that video and would love it if he would actually mail us a copy like he says he will haha. I'm hoping he got the "soul train" on camera that DH's friends started - we have some great photos from it, but I think the video would be hysterical.

This was what I was afraid of Raangoli! I was afraid a video might actually take away some of the glow of my own memories! I also didn't want to see any annoying mannerisms that I wasn't aware of lol.I know of several brides who didn't realize how awful they looked walking down the aisle (crying too heavily, laughing awkwardly, etc). The video revealed what they probably would have been better off not knowing!
Still, if you have a video that DOES come out well, what a great momento. My grandfather (who I never met because he died young) made an appearance on a great aunt's wedding video in the late 40's... what a treasure to see him in a way that a still photo can't capture. Sigh.
Linds - I was really expecting *someone* in our guest list to pull out a digital camera... grab at least a *few* snips of video??? No one. Not one. And dh's family loves gadgets??!!!
