Did you feel the Earthquake?

I'm WAH on the couch.  I thought the dog was having a dream and shaking the couch.  I was watching the news reports for several minutes before I realized it wasn't her.

Re: Did you feel the Earthquake?

  • didn't reach up here in VT (we get no excitement, it's a safe spot to live!" but my FB feed is going crazy with updates on it!
  • I thought I was going crazy and my entire office was eerily silent. Then I noticed the water in my glass moving and I said "Holy Earthquake, Batman!" and everyone stood up and looked around and jabbered for awhile. It wasn't too bad up here.

    Woke up. Still queen.
  • I'm on the 17th floor. I am not well. I am so glad I don't live somewhere where earthquakes are the norm, because feeling the effects of VA's earthquake in Philly was not cool.

  • I'm on the 9th floor in NYC.  My coworkers didn't believe me at first.  Then we saw the light fixtures swaying and everyone decided to head to the street.  Shortly after we got down, the building was officially evac'd.  They let us back in about 30 min later - I went to lunch and just one street over the sidewalks are full of people waiting to go back inside.  Half the city was out on the street.

I don't know how I should go home.

  • Felt nothing here in Michigan... I was also running a weedwhacker, so possibly I just didn't notice b/c our local news claims people in nearby towns felt it.

I was woken up by an earthquake when I was in Japan, so of all people in Michigan I am suprised I didn't notice.

  • I felt it and was a little unsettled, but mostly because I was worried about the possibility that something worse might still be coming.  It was pretty hectic because my building was never officially evacuated, but those of us who decided to go outside weren't let back in for almost two hours.  Most of the buildings where I work had fire alarms going off and it was general chaos, with a ton of people flooding the sidewalk.  Traffic was a disaster and I would have gone home, but the subway wasn't running.  Phone service was a mess and my battery died trying to get texts through to people; at first I was worried because I didn't know if it had been worse elsewhere, for family and friends.  I honestly can't imagine what would happen if it had been something serious, because this was mayhem and it wasn't even that bad.  I also feel like it wasn't very safe - since they didn't evacuate us, and then just had us standing under a really tall building to wait Tongue Tied

  • didn't feel it at all outside of Boston; no one in my office did.  Hubby didn't either.  I didn't even know we had one until I got home and turned on the news!  Very creepy.
