My husband and I love to travel, were trying to pack in as many trips we can before we actually settle down and start a family. For his big 30th I wanted to take him away for a long weekend but i'm slightly conflicted as to where we should go.
We've always wanted to go to Boston so I thought because his birthday is at the end of October we could take a road trip stopping in Salem to see all of the Halloween festivities before heading to Boston and all of the delicious seafood.
But I now thought, well maybe we should go to Vegas for the weekend instead, where one of my girlfriends lives. We've never been to Vegas and it might be fun! Regardless, now i'm completely conflicted; any thoughts as to what I should do?
Re: Surprise birthday trip
I vote for Vegas, but Vegas is my happy place.
But Boston would be good go to within the next few months before it gets cold out, where as Vegas is warm and fun all year round....
A road trip out East in the fall would be great. The colors out there on the trees are amazing. I went a few summers ago to visit my aunt in Boston and we took a day trip to Salem. It was fun, a lot of touristy stuff to do and see, but its a one time trip. Once you go its not really worth going back. Though, I bet it would be more fun to do around Halloween.
This was my thought exactly! Vegas isn't going anywhere, but Salem around Halloween is just too cool to pass up! Plus I'm not a huge fan of Vegas.
My thoughts exactly! If you're going to do the Boston trip, fall would definitely be the time to do it. I'd put Vegas on the backburner for now since you can do that any time of the year.
Wow thanks for all the feedback! As much as I love the idea of Vegas I think i'm convinced that East is the way to go. Maybe Vegas would be more of a good girls getaway, especially because my girlfriend lives there.
I totally forgot how pretty it will be out there in the fall. I remember being in Traverse City this past October and it was beautiful! We had such a great time and best of all, I got to wear all of my favorite fall scarves and boots!!
Thanks for ALL of your input girls!
I vote Boston. I went out there last Nov and the weather was perfect. My sister lived in Beacon Hill and it is a great area. Close to lots of stuff.
There is also a hotel that used to be the prison out there The Liberty. I think it is pricey but just throwing it out there to even just go check it out.
