Re: Do Life Girls

  • Already visited The Cowtown Marathon website and looked to see if I could train for a half by then! :)

I had been toying with the idea of The Cowtown, but it's a lock now!

  • Leslie - If your neighbor is correct, you might be feeling a little wobbly by then. ;-)

I kind of, sort of, want to do a half.  I just don't know where I would find the time to train.

  • Training for a half marathon by Feb is totally doable. I have run the Cowtown half a couple of times and recommend doing a lot of hill training in preparation for that race.

Yeah, I thought about that but I don't have to register until 12/31, so I will know by then what Feb would look like for me. Worst case, I do the Cowtown 5k. :)

Supposedly Hal Higdin has some really good training plans, I'll let you know if I find a good one for busy people.

This one has long runs only on weekends: http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/novice2.html

  • I really wish it was later in the year because I was really considering training if it was after July.  Oh well I will still do the 5k but no way I can train for a marathon by feb :(

I honestly don't think I could train for a marathon by then either. The half seems manageable but the full is out of my reach, even with the slow pace group Ben is setting up.

  • Thanks Leslie - that seems do-able.

I haven't been running in the heat so I'm not sure I can even run 3 miles right now outdoors without walking. =(

DH and I are planning to run tonight, so I'm going to give it a try.   He has been talking about training for a 10k, but it seems to me that once you get good training habits there is no reason we couldn't go ahead and go for the half instead.  I think?

If you aim for a Spring half you could always do Bridge to 10k first, then move to half training. You would have a longer base built up and half training would probably be easier. Maybe I should take my own advice..lol.
