uhh, yeah. I was almost in tears, I was so scared. at first I thought an aircraft was flying over (I work right outside of DC by a major Air Force base), but then the floor and my desk started shaking. looked outside and saw the cars in the lot bouncing around like toys. I wobbled to the doorway and waited it out... lasted about 3 minutes here.
I'm really hoping there are no after shocks =/

We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
everyone here is good, just really freaked out. I'm pretty certain most of friends working in the city are being evacuated. cell phone signals are still wonky around here too.
creeeeeeepy, man!

I laughed when our news reported that it was felt as far north as NYC and I had already saw some of the FB updates from you ladies North of there. So crazy. I was at Old Navy in the mall and I was sure something big hit the mall (esp since we are in the flight path of the Philly Airport).
When I heard it was based in VA, I thought of you right away Mandee. Im glad you are okay!

I'm glad it wasn't a big one! I forget that there's a fault line running through North America. We had one last year too, didn't we? I seem to remember thinking it was one of my fat students walking by me... Reports seem to be saying it lasted a good 15-45 seconds which feels like an eternity when your furniture is moving across the floor.

That was very freaky. I work near the White House, so I'll admit it: my first thought was not earthquake. They evacuated us and now they're sending us home. Metro's running trains at 15mph and only every 15 minutes, so I'm going to take my chances with the express bus.
That's two earthquakes I've felt in D.C. in past two years. I'd say time to move to CO, but they also had one!
Glad you're ok Mandee and Chica! I just heard from my BFF up there and she's ok but can't get a hold of her husband. Thankfully I got an email from him so I was able to let her know he's ok.
Hope we hear from Rebaann soon!
so glad you ladies are ok. Is there any damage in anyones area?
I pray there is not aftershock, no damage, and no injuries. I would be terrified.

Uh, yep. Right smack in the middle of it. It was both exhilarating and terrifying.
ETA: I just hope the traffic loosens up a bit over the next two hours. Jim was evacuated from his office for an hour, but they are back in now. I'm supposed to get the car and run some errands after work.

Glad to hear you are all ok!
We had a 5.3 earthquake in southern CO last night just before midnight. I didn't feel anything but several of my coworkers swear they did.

Thanks, Mandee. I'm still at work to help out a co-worker with a deadline; if it gets late enough, I'm grabbing the husband and we're heading to Gordon Biersch to wait out Metro. I hope your husband doesn't sit in traffic too much longer.
This is an excellent plan!

I was laughing at myself when I found out it was an earthquake. I was on the couch passed out from watching a terrible movie. I thought one of the animals was clawing at the couch or something, so I was yelling at them. When no one was around, I totally thought I was losing my marbles.
I'm used to loud noises. We live next to an AFB, too. The F15s fly right over our house at least once a day, after burners and all. Ugh.
