What to do with 2 rotisserie chickens?

So I picked up one that was on sale at Fry's today, then one of our neighbors dropped one off as a thank you for taking him to a baseball game.

I was planning on using one tomorrow. But now I have two to pick apart.

Do I pick them both apart (today or tomorrow) and then freeze the rest or freeze the extra bird whole and then pick after I defrost? (I'm guessing I should probably do it now. Sigh, 1st tri takes it out of me)

  • I would pick them apart and then freeze, I double checked google for you too and everyone said, pick and then freeze.

I hope you get some energy soon.

  • You'll save so much room if you pick it apart now... could Lucy do it? Good for the fine motor skills Smile
  • It's easier to pick them now while they are warm.  I am assuming they are the pre-cooked kind you get from the deli ready to eat.

  • We usually buy a rotisserie chicken or cook a whole chicken once a week during the school year because it's so convenient. Usually one meal is just eating chicken with a side dish. We make enchiladas, quesadillas, or mashed potatoes, chicken and gravy with the leftover chicken and then freeze the rest just in a gallon ziplock bag to put in soup later on. With the bones we boil them with some seasonings to make broth, and either make soup immediately to take for lunches and have for dinner that week, or we freeze the broth in those red plastic cups to use for soup or flavorful rice later on. I can't tell you what I would do without rotisserie chicken during the school year! It easily takes care of 2-3 meals a week plus lunches!!!

  • I would do both today. Put some in the fridge for use in the next few days and the rest in the freezer.

Hope you get the energy back soon!
