Irene is freaking me out.
This area flooded out really badly with Hurrcane Floyd in '99. We have a waterline in the basement here because the house flooded.
When we were buying the place, I checked all the flood maps, recommendations, etc. Everyone was like, that was a freak, once-in-a-lifetime storm. You'd never get water like that again.
Irene is currently projected to take the same path as Floyd. It's freaking me out. Oh please, don't let us flood.
Re: Irene is freaking me out.
Flooding is awful and why I will neverever have a house with a basement in it. Fingers crossed for you guys.
Remind me to never go anywhere near the east coast during the last 2 weeks of August.

I'm still crossing my fingers that it'll turn back towards FL a little bit and give us a hurricane day on Friday

Goodness... I hope everything is ok... ugh, floods.
Keep us posted....
We lived in southern Louisiana when Andrew passed through there. Most terrifying experience of my life!
Oops! I confess, I was only 5 when Andrew came through and I lived in NY so what I know of the storm is only what I've heard from MIL and others who lived through it.

I think I've been under a rock for the past few days. I was all "Who is Irene and why is she bothering Kate?" lol...
Anyway, now that I've read the headlines, it looks like it's supposed to hit NC now. They are evacuating the coast and the OBX now.
