Though I understand why they don't, I hate it that the security clearance investigator people don't tell you when they're coming to interview you. The guy investigating H just showed up. I had just gotten out of the shower, hair dripping, and I was half naked BFing DS. Win.
Re: AWKWARD.
In theory, I understand the surprise visit, but that can't be a very productive way to conduct business. When I was interviewed for my DH's clearance, the investigator called me and set-up an appointment. In fact, it had taken the investigator so long to get to DH's paperwork that they had trouble finding him. They found him through me--not that I was on his paperwork. We had just started dating when he submitted his paperwork. We'd gotten married and moved across the country!
I hope you are able to get back on track with your day!
Agree I totally understand the just showing up thing however, EEEKKK for you. It seems like things like that always happen to me. Perhaps in the future, we can compare stories.
In college, I once had a collge roommate that has invited people over. I didn't know they were already showing up as my room/bathroom was in the back of the APT. Anyway, I came busting out in my bra and panties to ask my roommate something and found a kitchen full of people standing there. At least I had on cute panties at that point, not to mention I went to a very small university so everyone was making comments to me for weeks later.
LOL Nothing to hide!
Nobody interviewed me when H got his TS. I was deprived of the awkwardness.
That's ridiculous. I got a ticket for talking on my cell while driving in NY, about 3 months before we got married. I sent it in pleading not guilty and it took them almost two years to get around to responding. By then, I had changed my name, moved to Egypt, moved to TX, and had DS.
He talked to most of our neighbors already. I hope he had the rest of his day open, though, because the last neighbor he needed to talk to is the old lady who would talk to the broad side of a barn for 10 years just because. I checked out the window 40 minutes after he left my house and his car was still parked outside. He's been sucked in!
Lucky!
That's probably the best story I've heard in a while. Especially because it was a small community and you saw them all again.
Hmmm, I wasn't interviewed during the last clearance. I was on the list b/c I knew H in college, but we had just started dating when he submitted the paperwork.
He has to submit for a renewal now. Maybe I should be prepared to always wear clothes
My neighbors are all tourists in vacation rentals that are there for only about a week. That could be interesting for investigators.
