Teen Mom and Catelynn
It seems to me, from what I understand about adoption, that their adoption is more semi-open than open. They don't know where they live, what their last name is, etc.
Doesn't Catelynn always tell people their adoption is open?

No- he recently got out of jail and is living in a halfway house.
Did they buy her presents last year? I know they had gotten her easter baskets, right?
so perhaps they are allowed - especially since their adoption consultant (i forget that woman's title) discussed Christmas shopping for Carly.
**Also, I'm slightly confused, the two of them were on the couch discussing something about a phone call and Tylers mom said something she shouldn't have... I was really confused who said what to who.
Tyler's mom called Brandon and Theresa to see if they would come to graduation.
Tyler and Catelynn are graduating and wanted to invite Carly and her parents to come. They didn't want to put them on the spot/make them feel like they had to come, so they decided to invite them in a letter.
Apparently Tyler's mom was on the phone with Carly's parents and asked them to come to the graduation, so she kind of messed up their plan and jumped the gun.
They send gifts for all holidays and birthdays.
I thought the whole thing with Tyler's mom was really strange. How would she even have Carly's parents phone number and why would she think that it's okay to call? My understanding is that even Tyler and Caitlyn have very limited contact. I actually find the Christmas presents and graduation to be a little much too. It's sweet that they want to stay as part of her life but they did give her up. I think the updates are fine but it all seems like a lot and more about Tyler and Cait and less about what is best for Carly. Carly isn't even two she has no interest in going to your HS graduation. I don't know maybe the adoptive parents are comfortable with the situation.
I agree that a HS graduation isn't probably the best place to see Carly again. It is so sweet that they want her to come but like pp stated - it would be for them not Carly.
I think it would be better to see her different time.
I wonder how/why Tyler's Mom thought it would be ok to call. It seems like Tyler doens't call - why did she?
I was shocked when I heard Tyler's mom called B&T. I have no idea why she thought that would be okay unless it's understood by all that she is allowed? (which I cannot imagine).
And yes, their adoption is only semi-open. Would you want Cate, Ty, Butch, and April to know your address? LOL.

I thought they said in a past episode that they felt bad because they haven't been calling B&T as much as they used to. And maybe it's just me, but there was enough label-shots to convince me that Target sponsored the gifts.
It looked like Butch had cut his hair! Baby steps! I'm impressed the two of them have stuck to the no contact thing.
On the After Show with Maci she says that she didn't really want to have another child. She knows she needs to get married first and then consider it. I get what she means about wanting her children close in age. Although she expressed a desire to get pregnant she was SMART enough to not go through with it.
Amber and her date...I'm sorry but they both seemed to gross. If he'd shave that gross patch of chin hair he'd appear a lot cleaner. In the preview for the next episode he gets trashier and grabs Amber's phone and starts yelling at Gary. Drama, drama, drama!
I am so tired of Farrah's attitude. And, I thought for sure that Sophia was about to fall into the water fountain while Farrah and her dad were talking. I'm glad that she didn't end up liking LA. lol...

And, surely by now someone knows Brandon and Teresa and have posted their last name online. Surely!! So, I'm assuming Catelynn and Tyler could easily find out Carly's last name. And probably address too. Not that they will do anything with the information but yea...
Also, Catelynn says things are going well with her and her mom now that they went to counseling. During the After Show of the episode where she went to counseling she said that her and her mother only did 1 counseling session and no more. It's annoying that they play up counseling so much on this show. I know it can be good but come on.
And, I'm shocked that Farrah didn't FLIP out on her dad for leaving her luggage outside.
Anyone who watches the show can obviously see that Catelynn and Tyler placed Carly for adoption because they truly wanted a better life for her. Yes, I'm sure they enjoyed buying her gifts. But I don't see how that means they don't want what's best for her.
