We had a 5.8 earthquake

Crazy! So glad we didn't have kids at school today! We start tomorrow.  We had a broken mug and some stuff on the floor at our apartment.  I had felt a few smaller ones  years ago but we NEVER have them like this.  Did anyone else feel it? We're less than 50 miles away from the epicenter.

  • I didn't feel them but again I am in Tennessee. I texted my brother who lives in NYC and he didn't feel it where he was. Crazy how some felt it and others didn't.

I've never been in an earthquake and don't think I want to. Glad everything is okay.

  • We didn't feel any at my house (I'm North of Boston) but I know they felt them in Boston and had to evacuate a few buildings (the tall ones) while they checked for damage. Wonder if Mel felt anything? She is south of Boston, so maybe so.

  • We felt it!  It was crazy!  I was at my mom's house and I was sitting on the floor, leaning against the couch, when the walls started shaking and the couch started pushing up against me.  It felt like someone was shaking the whole house back and forth.  The scariest part was not  having any idea what happened.  I've never experienced anything like that in my entire life!

  • Just spoke to bf who was at the Museum of the American Indian in DC when it happened and she said they didn't know what had happened, they thought it was a bomb at first because no one could get Internet access to figure out what happened. She said it take 5 hours to get home and she lives 20 min out the city.

Crazy... I've still never felt an earthquake and I live in CA!

  • We just had our first after shock a few hours ago 4.3

  • I was watching the Indians/Mariners game (which was being played in Cleveland), and the announcers felt it and were like, "Are we having an earthquake??  Whoa, it's an earthquake!"

  • wow!!! crazy!! guam has earthquakes every now and then, but it's "normal" for our neck of the woods...quite weird for your area!
  • It seems the east has had strange weather this year. Remember the tornando that I believe MA had? They said it is unheard of that the east coast (or at least that far up east) would have tornandos and now an earthquake.
