2nd interview was a week ago....no word yet. Any hope left?
I posted about a week ago about a situation where I went in for a 2nd interview at a company that also had an internal candidate still in the running (along with another external candidate). After the interview, which was last Tuesday, they said that they hope to make a decision and get in touch with everyone by the end of this week. Here it is, one week later, and I still haven't heard a thing. I know that they said that they hope to get in touch with everyone by the end of this week, but I can't help but think that the only reason that I haven't heard anything yet is because they already offered it to someone else and are waiting for him to accept before calling me with the rejection.
The follow-up from initial phone screening to first interview to second interview was pretty quick, which makes me even more concerned with this last step not being quick.
Anyone want to keep my hope alive and tell me your great story about getting a job after waiting for a response longer than you thought you would?

Why are you stressing yourself out about this when it's only Tuesday? A gazillion things could be going on this week, and they gave you until the end of the week to hear something.
Chill. Please. It's a big deal to you, but it's just another hiring decision to them.

Honestly - I totally appreciate when people tell me like it is and tell me to calm the 'F' down. I need to hear it.
I think you should keep your hopes up. Awhile back, I had an interview for a job I really, really wanted. They scheduled a second interview for the SAME WEEK. And then....nothing....for over a month!! I thought they had hired someone else, I followed up with phone calls, emails, etc etc and heard nothing. Turns out, the recruiter in charge of that particular position quit and they were just trying to get caught up. I had my third interview a month and a half later and started the job three days after that.
So, yes, there is definitely hope!
