Those with kids...

How often do you vacuum your house? Or at least the common areas you spend the most time in?

I swear I can't keep up with the crumbs, but I really do not want to vacuum every single night!

Just curious what others do- thanks in advance!

Re: Those with kids...

  • I vacuum 3 times per week.  My children have allergies.  Are your crumbs in the kitchen, under the table, at the bar, dining table?  Can you localize your children to eat in one area?
  • I vacuum almost daily and I sweep several times per day.
  • Once a week, but it should probably be done more often Embarrassed

  • The kitchen area (we eat most nights at the counter with her high chair pulled up to it) and the family room get vacuumed every night.
  • We have hardwood floors and I just turn the Roomba on a few times a week when I leave the house

  • we have hardwoods downstairs...so we sweep every few days...the carpet upstairs is only vacuumed every other week, when the housekeeper does it (but it's rarely walked on, and we don't have pets).  we are really only upstairs to sleep...

  • I sweep after every meal and I turn on the roomba when I leave the house too, I vacuum the downstairs three times a week and the upstairs two times a week. Then my wonderful husband vacuums the whole house on Sunday. I spot mop the kitchen about every other day... I have lots of fur babies + three toddlers, and I am OCD, so I do it more than average.
  • Get a Roomba! I love mine and turn it on every night when I head upstairs to bed. After each meal either myself or my 3 year old sweeps crumbs. I bought him a small broom and dustpan with a little dustpan brush for Christmas because he was always playing with the big broom and he loves to do it and I love when he does. It took a little coaching to get him to manage the crumbs into a pile and sweep them into the dust pan but now quite a few months later, he's actually pretty good at it and loves to have a "chore" like his older cousins do. I also give him "homework" to work on in the evenings when I watch his cousins so he has something to do while they work on theirs. its awesome! If he doesn't want to sweep, I do it. I feel he's too young to have to do actual chores aside from picking up his own toys.

  • My kids split time with their dad so they aren't here all the time yet they still manage to wreck the carpet in the short time they are here. The cats don't help either. I try to vacuum 2x a week in the living room (usually only gets done 1x though) I sweep under the kitchen table and around the trash can and laundry room at least every other day.

  • Oh... I almost forgot. My youngest, who's 8, loves to vacuum. So occasionally I indulge him and let him take care of the living room. Saves me some time and only have to go back over a few parts he misses :) Makes his day and saves my back haha
