We bought a horseback riding tour through living social and are going this weekend. I've been once before, but was a teenager. It was NBD. Today, we get this long disclaimer about safety and the right attire. This thing talks like we have to wear cowboy boots, "jeans that aren't hip huggers" (uh do I have any of those?), and a long sleeved tucked in shirt. WTF? This is Alabama.
I'll be damned if I'm wearing any of my boots on a horse, and Robin is a strictly sneakers fellow. I may wear jeans, but in jeans and long sleeves, I will die, and it will not be fun.
Would you go by the dress code or just wear what you want? Long or short sleeves? You think I could jeggings instead of pants? Yes, I'm serious.
Re: What does one wear horseback riding?
Jeans- not tight skinny legged ones, looser, comfortable ones you can move in. You're going to want more than jeggings bc of the impact to your thighs (unless you have thighs of steel, which I admittedly do not).
You'll be fine in a short sleeved top or a tank, and sneakers are fine, I think the rule is closed toed pants.
Stand up for something you believe in.
We have horses and ride quite a bit - they say long sleeves so your arms dont get torn up if you are riding in a wooded area, but I ride in a tank all the time. I also am not the poster child since I will jump on a horse in flips - dont recommend that since I have major damage to my big toe nail after being stepped on 9 years ago.... still hasnt recovered. Make sure your comfortable. they will probably have you mount from a box or the ground with help so you will need to swing your legs up and over to get in the saddle.
That sounds like a really fun trip! Enjoy!
