The biggest surprise of my whole shower was that my sister was able to change her work shift and be there! My mom and family planned a really nice shower at a local hall, complete with cute decorations and yummy food.
It was nice to get to see a bunch of my family and friends. People have been sending larger gifts to our flat, so for the shower they wrapped up pictures of what they bought. I also received smaller items that can fit in my suitcase at the shower.
I know baby showers aren't a tradition everywhere, but I am really grateful to have had one. We received all of the big items we asked for: crib, dresser, glider, and stroller.
There were bibs and onesies for everyone to decorate with fabric paints and people came up with some really cute ideas. One of my favorites was "Made in England".
I'm looking forward to making my first purchases for the baby as I haven't bought anything myself yet. Time to pick out some cute clothes! Then, I need to try to figure out how to get it all in my suitcase along with the additional maternity clothes I bought from Old Navy.

Not that I was planning or counting on. I know the girls from my hockey team mentioned wanting to have one. Some of them are South African and it's traditional there to to a baby shower so they said they were excited to do one for someone who is also used to it as opposed to some of their English friends who don't really understand it.
Awww I'm so happy you got to have such a great shower. Sounds perfect. I bet you are relieved to have those big things out of the way too.
DH and I found a "made in Israel" onesie too and we just had to get it! Too cute.

Amazon.co.uk I would also call and ask Babies r Us here. I was looking up a US registry and came to that site.
Bio
Yes, it was Amazon.co.uk that has a "universal wish list" button that you can add to your browser bar which lets you add things from other sites to your wish list. Since you know me IRL if you search on amazon you can find mine to see what it looked like. Babies R Us UK also allows you to make a registry, but I didn't so can't offer any experience. Everyone paid with US credit cards without a problem. Since I was coming home I also registered at Babies R Us the US one for small things that I could fit in my suitcase, this also gave people the option of going to the store and/or spending less money.
I also found amazon's delivery to be really efficient and most things came at a convenient time so I didn't miss the deliveries.
